Slow. No auto feed. Needed for a fast turnaround and it wasn't up to task.might be a good scanner for a few scans but isn't up th doing up to a quick or bigger project

Setup and use

The V550 is a great little scanner, but, directions are a bit vague as to initial setup. Words as to function of switches would be helpful.
Software should give the operator the option of where to store scanned images and ability to annotate them.

It gave conflicting messagers regarding software installation. It did not connect and it did not scan. I am returning it.

Severe installation problems

I purchased the V550 because my 'old' Epson scanner (2480 Photo) no loger supports 'pdf' and other formats (that in itsef was a disappoinment...). Last night, having followed all the instructions on the installation CD, the scanner never came out of the 'error' mode. All the suggestions in the user guide - other than calling the help desk, not available at night - did not help. Will give a call to the help desk, and if it does not work I will return the scanner to the store.

this product works very good. I wish that it could be networked, other wise it is a very good scanner if you are using if for film photography & scanning real prints into the computer to be fixed are to use it for a your film & slid photography. It is the best think out there for that. Epson make the best Professional equipment for photographers ! I have many different Professional Large Format Printers all made my Epson and they are the very best you can buy and are amazing just like this scanner is ! The best made by the best !

I took it out of the box. It wasn't too hard, but I worked up a sweat. Then they have you put a cd in the drive to install the driver for the scanner. I don't know if they installed a driver, but it did a zillion other things and had me enter a ton of personal information. While it was running I did the dishes. The bar that indicates the amount of time left (or percent progress) was wildly inaccurate. I have used Epson products in the past with good results, so I have high hopes for this scanner. I am only giving it three stars because they did not allow me to develop a full impression of the product before asking for the review!
