Great Quality at a Really Good Price Point

I purchased this for a special project and it delivered great quality color and b&w scans. I haven't used any of it's extra features...but the basic scanning feature works great!
I would recommend this to a friend!

Excellent scanner

You simply can't go wrong with Epson products. My scanners and printers have been nothing but Epson for over a decade now and the only reason I get a new one is when the previous one goes beyond repair (from constant use!) The V550 is fast and accurate, quieter with a "sleeker" sound. Can't recommend Epson scanners enough.

Purchased Epson V550 Scanner to scan my extensive Negative and Slide catalog and was very surprised in the quality of scans it produced! Once I learned how to use the Scan Parameters the photo's produced were comparable to my high end digital raw camera photos. I would recommend to anyone that had old negatives/slides they wanted to view/preserve to purchase a Epson V550 scanner, it has superior quality at a very reasonable price. A very good buy, recommended for beginners and professional photographers. I also had a chance to use the produce support technical services who solved my minor problem - which turned out to my poor cleaning of the scanner surface - pilot error. Great product - keep up the excellent work!

Epson V550 Great performance

Purchased the first Epson v550 and followed install directions for Mac. Upon clicking icon(s) to print or scan, I would receive a horrifying grinding sound, like the gears, then an error (communication error), flashing light. Cable was installed correctly and checked. Returned this v550 for a replacement v500 and have had no problems thus far. The Epson(s) all work well on my network as well as a recently purchased Epson Workforce 630. Was easy to install, entered IP address of my Epson printer and was located with no delay. READ THE ONLINE MANUAL(S.) Epson websites are well organized; quick access to manuals and resources.

Good Photo Scanner

Set up is a breeze. I would have given this device five stars except for a lack in operating instructions. It's necessary to go on line to get detailed instructions but those instructions are excellent. The provided setup instructions would be greatly improved if it only stated photo prints are copied directly from the scanning bed and are automatically named and saved to a file in My Pictures. I realized a significant production improvement over my old scanner. This is a very good scan only device and I would recommend it for that purpose. It turned out to be exactly what I was looking for.
