I bought this to replace an a V500 that died what I consider to be an early death after 6 years. To be fair, I did scan a heck of a lot of slides and photos on it. This unit shows a few smart upgrades, especially the elimination of the removable lid cable, which often came disconnected. It's just as large as the V500, but I hoping for a smaller footprint. Quality is excellent. The Twain interface is the same and clunky. That could use a bunch of improvements to bring it more in-line with today's software.

Second Epson Perfection scanner

I had a Epson Perfection V500 photo scanner and scan well over 50,000 scan before I needed a new one. Really got my money's worth our of the V500 so I went back and purchased a V550 which I am very happy with. Does a great job and also great pictures, just like they look like in real life. Best scanner I have ever purchased. Thanks

quality flat bed scanner

This scanner replaces an older one by a different company. It is a much improved machine. I particularly appreciate that the top is held in place while I insert my slides/negatives. Only one issue but it might be applicable only to a few - I can't scan a collection of mounted 3-D slides in my collection - wish the company would make a frame for this task.

After one month using it I noticed tat some scanned pictures are a littl darker than the original.
