Great Scans

This Photo scanner has done a great job on my pictures and other documents. I am scanning old pictures of my parents and they are yellow and weathered. The scanner has made the pictures look much better without yellow and other issues. I highly recommend this scanner for quality and clearness. I have tried several other scanners but this one has the best clarity and color of any.

I use the v550 for scanning slides and printed pictures and downloading them into iPhoto. It's easy. The best part is the auto correct. Pictures that are 30yrs old with the color completely faded look like they were taken yesterday. Great product.

Very easy to set-up and install! Simple to use with great results. Scans are accurate and fast. I have had several other brands of scanners in the past but the V550 is by far the best.

Perfection V550

I was looking for an upgrade to my old Epson Perfection 4490 scanner. Mostly to do photos. Researched several photo magazines and the 500/550 was highly recommended as one of the best. I have used it for several months scanning family photos for retention. It has worked well (faster than my old one). My only compliant is sometimes it has problems discriminating between photos when I do 4 or 5.

Good Scanner!

I bought this scanner a little over a month ago and I am still on a learning curve with it. Installation of software was a breeze as well as setting up the scanner. In the space between purchase and now, I have scanned over 2,000 images (!). This scanner is a workhorse!
I have read some complaints about it being slow, especially at higher resolutions. And it does seem to take its time at higher resolutions. However, while some people may just be working on personal or hobby projects (and I don't hold anyone up to criticism, nor do I slight any impatience they may hold) but my scans have all been of my personal and family history. Some of the photographs are well over one hundred years old...I can wait.
Again, the scans are all very detailed and nice to work with the results. I repeat myself, but this scanner is a WORKHORSE!
I would recommend this to a friend!

epson v550 photo

it is good but i should have bought the v600 again as my old one died after 5 years, and wy would i pay more for the v6oo because you can use the DIGITAL ICE for Prints removes the appearance of tears and creases and nicks from the prints witch the v550 only works on film. other than that i hope it last for 5 years as the v600 was used thousands of time before it died.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Excellent Scanner At An Affordable Price

I've been a hobby photographer for a very long time. I used to shoot 35mm film on a Minolta 7000 which was state of the art when it came out. This camera took excellent images of priceless memories of my family that I need to preserve for my kids and grand kids. I have to digitize several hundred images and now actually look forward doing it thanks to the V550. I have an all-in-one Printer/Fax/Scanner/Copier that includes a feed scanner which is fine for paper documents but not for high quality prints. The rubber of the mechanism that feeds the scanner leaves big stretch imprints on the actual prints. An absolute no-no for irreplaceable images! The Epson Perfection V550 is ideal for this task and so much more. My expectations were high but the V550 far outdid itself and superseded my expectations. The image quality that I saw on Adobe Photoshop is nothing less than outstanding. Pictures older than 50 years from World War 2 were restored to almost new. This is my very first Epson product and I am very impressed. The initial setup couldn't be easier and also was very fast. The Epson V550 scanner absolutely deserved the PC Magazine's Editors Choice award!! Bottom line: Do yourself a favor and get the Epson V550 for yourself and do the same as I did. Get the pictures in the box because they are forgotten treasures.

Easy to use v550 Photo Scanner

I purchased this scanner to scan all of our old family photos. Some of these were from the 1920's and the V550 did an excellent job. I used the automatic function and it recognized multiple photos on a single scan. The system works so easily that is a fun thing to use. I would recommend it as a nice quality scanner for photos.
