Purchased as a replacement for an all-in-one printer that crashed and couldn't be repaired. Gets the job done fast!

What an incredible addition to my photo processing world! The thing works like a charm and so easy to figure out. The output is INCREDIBLE. It's changed my life, enabling me to bring new life to old slides and negatives. LOVE IT!!

My biggest disappointment in this scanner is it's inability to scan all color negatives. Its pretty good on 35mm slides and negatives.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Very sturdy, fast and beautiful scans. The preview scan is a very helpful tool, allowing to make minor physical alignment changes without the need to rotate the image. Highly recommended.

Scanning slides and 6X17 transparencies on the V550

My primary use is to scan slides, but I also have a number of medium format, 6X17cm format transparencies which I can easily scan with the V550 photo color scanner. This scanner is quick and easy to use.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Great scanner for documents, photos & negatives

I had a previous model -- Epson Photo 3170 -- for years. I loved it and it worked great, but when I got a new Mac a couple years ago, I learned that the Epson Scan software was not compatible and I was told I needed to use the Mac's Image Capture software instead. The quality of my scans went down immediately. I hated using the Image Capture software. I knew the scanner was still great, but because I couldn't use the Epson software that came with it, I had to compromise scan quality and endlessly manipulate scanned images after scanning them using Image Capture. Finally, I got fed up and bought this new Epson scanner. SO much happier. I can use the new Epson Scan software and my scans look to be as good or better than what I used to get from my previous Epson scanner. I'm told the resolution is higher, but I haven't been able to tell the difference yet. All I know is the scans look MUCH better than what I got when I was stuck using the Image Capture software. I wish Epson had issued an updated version of the Epson Scan that would work with that older scanner. But I guess then they wouldn't have gotten me to purchase the new one. I'm happy with what I got. Scanned some old negatives today and they look really good. The only downside I found was that the older scanner had a compartment in the scanner lid for storing one of the negative trays. The new scanner doesn't have that, though they did combine two of the previous trays into one.

I had researched a few different scanner for the purpose of scanning in 35mm and 120mm negatives when I found this product it was in my price range and had an output quality that I could be proud of. I would recommend this product.
