WONDERFUL Scanner V550

I've had an Epson V500 Photo Scanner for many years when I decided to give it to a relative and upgrade to the newer V550. I've been very pleased and satisfied using both scanners in the "Home" mode being able to control the quality of any document being scanned or copied. I would recommend the Epson Perfection V550 Photo to anyone wanting to have the easiest and least steps for quality results every time!.

Epson Perfection V550

My previous scanner was an Epson V350 which I used for a few years and was happy with it. I purchased this one because after I upgraded to Windows 10 it no longer worked. Everything I tried was useless because it seems as though it was not compatible with Windows 10 even after downloading new drivers. I am now very pleased with this scanner as it seems the scanned images are much better!
I would recommend this to a friend!

Slide Scanning

After reading reviews I decided to purchase the V550 for scanning a large number 60 yr old slides and 80+ yr old photos. Out of the box the scanner performed excellent. Still experimenting with settings (resolution, file size and mode). Currently using Professional Mode, 48-bit color, 4800 dpi with Digital Ice and does a good job. Further clean-up of old slides is needed, but in a separate program like Adobe Lightroom. Very satisfied, great for my needs.

Epson V550 scanner

I've had the Epson V550 scanner for two months. It is great. It does FANTASTIC in handling slides with high lighting contrast, much better than two other scanners I've had. Clarity and colors are excellent, and it is user friendly.
And here's what's REALLY great; Epson's product support. I've used Epson's product support 3 times and gotten prompt help with a minimum of fuss. It seems like other companies ask many, many questions before they even start asking about your problem.
This is the second product review I've ever written, and the first positive one - that says something pretty outstanding about the V550 and Epson.

Bought this mainly to scan some 80 year old B&W 2-3/4 x 3-3/4 negatives which it did very nicely. I've also used it to scan 35mm slides and some printed photos, as well as generating multi-page PDFs directly from original documents with no intermediate steps. Overall, I'm very pleased with the results.

Just what I needed

As many of you have, I have precious film images that I want to preserve. I have also many photo prints, some in need of retouching. I did thorough research and the V550 did not disappoint when I bought it and put it to use. It scans film and reflective art beautifully. Many features allow for good results. The retouch feature is great. I am preparing three books of family history and I find that printing three copies on simple copy paper meets my needs. I scanned old 4 1/4 by
3 1/8 " negatives in halves (the scanning track is too narrow for a whole image) printed each half out and joined the prints. Have not scanned 35mm Kodachromes, but I trust that the V550 will perform. Use a flat sheet of glass if negatives curl on the scanning bed.

This is a great scanner. It actually scans and improves old color faded photos. You can also increase the DPI so larger images can be printed.
