For the price one cannot beat it for quality, sharpness, ease of use. Compact, handles 35mm slides and negs in addition to 2.25X2.25 negs pluse flat art. Great all around accessory to my computer.

I scan my art & send it to my on-line art sites. I'm thec-challanged being over 65, but wanted a top notch scanner. This suits my needs & I love to use it. I wish there were more instruction available, however...(found only 2 not-so-informative vedios on Youtube).

Epson V550 scanning photos

I've owned the V550 since about 4/25/2016. I have scanned B&W negatives, color negatives, color slides, B&W prints and color prints. In this time I have archived my families photographs from 1940 to the newest in the amount of about 3000 scans, I'm retired so I've been coping them almost every day hours on end.
I haven't had any problems with the scanner since purchasing it.
It has done a very good job at reproducing the scan into digital format. The ICE works good on some of the damaged color scanned film.
I purchased this scanner for the specific purpose of scanning my family photos and am glad I did as it has lived up to my expectations. the only problem is the 35mm film you have to keep unsnapping the negative carrier after loading 2 film strips and I feel the tabs will eventually break off but haven't so far with a lot of scans. Would have be nice if it were to load like the larger format negatives which just slide in. I have had some format's that don't fit into the carrier but I could scan them by just placing on the glass bed which worked just fine. I would like to see a carrier that is film format specific so I wouldn’t have to keep reloading the carriers as often but I have worked with the supplied carriers just fine. It would be nice to have a 8mm movie film carrier that I could pull the film through and be able to scan specific frames of the film. Also there is a little trimming of the photo when placed on the flat bed so you need to set the scanned object not to the edge which when scanning a lot sometime ends in having a crooked scan.
All in all I am very happy with the Epson V550 scanner.

I purchased the V550 photo scanner. It was simple to set up. I purchased it to scan 35mm slides to a DVD. It produced great prints even though the slide were over 45 years old. I would highly recommend the V550 to anyone.

Good scanner. Good resolution. Easy operation. Didn't get one earlier because I normally don't do Pictures. Great on Pictures.
If it fails as it did when I entered some new alternate device scan software, The instructions fix it right up for you.
Works OK in W8.1 and even better (easier) in W7.
I would recommend this to a friend!

A good scanner with some glitches

The scanning is very clear and accurate. However, many times on start up I get a message that the scanner and the computer cannot communicate. After checking all connections I have to unplug the scanner from the outlet and/or the USB port to get it to work. Sometimes when I am scanning slides it will scan all four slides and the slide holder as one image. After deleting the false image, I try again and it works fine. When all goes well it is a good scanner.

V550 Photo Color Scanner

Very easy setup and scanning operation. No need to wait up for scanning in pictures. This is a very fast scanner and the resolution is excellent. This was my first scanner purchase and after using a friends slower unit, I was pleasantly surprised how easy it operated and that I can just connect and start up. Only thing I wish it was was a wireless scanner.
I would recommend this to a friend!
