Not such a good product.

I bought this waffle iron about 6 months ago. It made great waffles for about 3 months then started to stick in small places. I had done everything right and was very careful to wash the plates as directed. But the sticking got worse and eventually I gave up. I do love my waffles so I bought another one and again three months in they began to stick but I thought I had done something wrong. Threw away a batch of waffle batter, washed the plates and started again. This morning I couldn't get the waffles off the plates. Sadly this product is definitely not good unless they improve on the plates.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I bought this few month ago. The quality is really bad
Waffle sticks to the surface and the temp. setting works randomly.
The plates do not stay in its place because of the Grill's bad quality .
I do not recommend.

DANGEROUS AND CLUMBSY

I received this as a much wanted gift for christmas. I am disappointed. It is clumbsy, the outside (entire silver surface) gets too hot. You can only handle it by the very small handles to open the griddle plates, and when you do, you get hit with a burst of steam to burn your face off!
Also, theres no included tray or grease trap to catch the runoff from the waffle mix,egg, bacon, etc so it runs out the channels that are conveniently placed in the corner, onto your counter or floor. Im very saddened about this. All of my othet black and decker products are wery wrll planned and function well.
The one thing great about this, is the convenience of the plate switch to convert from waffle to griddle. Though you have to wait a ling time for them to cool off to turn over.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Frustrating

I have always trusted the Black & Decker name for quality, but I'm totally disappointed in this waffle iron. Mine was a gift, so the only solace I have is that I didn't waste MY money buying it. The waffle plates stick so bad they have to be soaked and scrubbed to get them clean - and,worst of all, no waffle for me to eat!

Loved our 1st...this one not great

We had our 1st one for 15 years no problems, the heating element was going out. We bought this one a year ago and ever since we have problems and fought with the plates since day one. My teenagers make waffles almost 3 times a week and I hear about it. The plates are uneven the clips don't keep them in place. Very frustrating. It has never sat right, but we kept it thinking it was just something that needed to be adjusted. Now I need to buy another one after a year? And reading reviews it looks like this is a common theme among this product in the recent years. This is the only waffle maker we have owned iur 20 years of marriage. And the last year has been frustrating in our house at breakfast time!

clips that hold plates did not work

I always bought 3-in-1 waffle makers because of ease of using. This product did not live up to reputation and plates did not stay in place. Clips did not hold and dropped before done.

Not as Good!

I have owned one of these for years. Had two of them and used them at the same time forever. I loved them and said I wouldn't buy anything different. Had to buy one a year ago, received it, wasn't made well, sent it back for an exchange and still the same thing. I kept it because I really thought it would be okay but I have never been satisfied with it. It also bakes unevenly. Needing another one now after 13 months. I will try it one more time and see what happens. If not satisfied again I will not purchase any more.
I would recommend this to a friend!

I love the look but not the plates

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] As with a lot of other people in this comment section the plates of the waffle maker lost their ability to separate from the waffles even when using non-stick spray.
I remember using almost this exact model as a kid at my parents house, in fact that's why my mother purchased me this when I got my own place with my wife. I wish there was some way I could get better plates so that I could continue using it. In fact the only reason it's not a five-star product, is because of the plates.
I actually really hope that if my issue is resolved that I can change this to a higher star rating.
