Good looking, consistant cooking

This microwave replaced an 18 year old GE microwave and I am hoping for similar longevity! It looks sleek and modern, and cleans up easily. The only suggestion I would make to GE id to either back light the control selectors or make them in a more contrasting color combination.

Design needs improvement

This appliance replaced a failed appliance. It was purchased primarily based on price. The microwave was believed to be a good value for the price.
The first problem was discovered when the box was opened and revealed that some parts required for installation and the owner's manual were missing. A call to customer service solved the "parts missing" issue in short order, but the owner's manual came sometime later.
The second problem occurred about a month and a half after installation when the surface light failed to turn off. A service call was scheduled; the problem was resolved about a week later. The problem was found to be a pinched wire that was not properly routed through the electrical harness retainers during factory assembly.
Once installed it became apparent that the user display (control panel) was very difficult to read making operation difficult especially in low light. The white letters contrast poorly with the gray background. The entire control panel should be back lighted. The control panel menu titles and all "three second" instructions are barely legible because of the font size, color and poorly contrasting menu titles and panel background color. The lighted clock display is dim light green color and difficult to read from a distance.
The secondary shelf is flimsy. The wire gauge is about 60% (visually) of the shelf in the LG microwave it replaced. The location of the secondary shelf supports make it very difficult to place two containers in the microwave at the same time. Casseroles are generally the types of containers people would use in a multiple container situation. These containers, with lids, are to tall to allow repositioning of the shelf for two containers even if one is shallow. The microwave would be better suited to one centrally located secondary shelf.
The microwave functions as it should. However, after using the product and considering the elements that I believe are important to the user, I would not purchase this particular model again.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Losing power to cook

I got this appliance with my new build home in April 2016 as part of the builders package. The oven is already not cooking correctly. You have to cook things for twice the directed time. The oven also has vent for stove on the bottom that is so loud you can't hear anything else when it's running
