Very Nice Printer

Small office class printer. Very fast. Good size tray. Can SCAN, PRINT, COPY and FAX either to or from the computer. Ethernet port so network ready. Does not do duplex printing but other than that a great printer.

I've had laser printers and all-in-one printers before, but this is my first all-in-one laser printer. It is replacing an HP Ink-Jet, and so far, at least, I like it better. For one thing, it begins printing faster, much faster.
It's installation was very straightforward and easy, and gave me no problems at all.
I mark it down only because it's default mode for scanning is .jpeg and I much prefer .pdf.
It was only after reading the user's manual that I learned it was possible to switch formats, and in the end, I had to call Tech Support to get talked through the process.
The Tech Support I got was excellent, but even the process of reaching the right person was convoluted due to the automated answering system.
I really think the option of switching formats for scanning should be made more simple and show up in the initial scanning selection process.

Typical Brother, with a few improvements needed

This is my third Brother MFC... all have functioned flawlessly. In fact, the only reason I have new ones is they are cheaper than replacing the drum and toner on my old ones. The unit functions well, is fast, and I expect it will last like the others. There are two things, minor, that I don't like. First, the LCD does not have a backlight. You need to provide a flashlight to see it if your office overhead lighting is poor. Second, on the paper feed... there is a small roller in the middle that pulls the paper though... unless you happen to have another piece taped to it, like receipts you want to copy. Then, the roller simply pulls the taped piece into it and crumples it while pulling the main piece through. None of my previous Brother MFCs did this. I suppose that is why they provide the top loading scanner/copier part.
Otherwise, it does everything well, is quiet and fast, and I suspect it will continue to do so until I find drum and toner pricing exceeds replacement cost, and then I'll get another one. FYI, average lifetime of my previous 8320 series was about 3-4 years and I go through a couple cases of paper a year.

A Great Addition!

I love the ease of making quality copies at home and as a quilter, making dozens of copies of a template for paper piecing is a breeze! Better still is that I'm able to do this without the expense associated with ink jet printing.
Its not often that we need to send a fax, but when we do it couldn't be any easier than it is with this machine.
I also love that I can scan both color and B&W without having to take up space with an extra piece of equipment.
I never thought I'd have the need for one of these but now I would hate to be without it.

Good, but with some problems

I got this MFC-7360N after having several Brother Printers. I even convinced my neighbor to buy one for her business. For general printing, faxing and copying the unit works great. Some times when printing multiple pages, (100) the print size on line four would be smaller on random pages.
TECH SUPPORT WAS OF NO HELP.
The major issue I have with the printer is the scanning feature. It’s okay for standard black and white or grayscale scanning. But when you scan a photograph even at high dpi, the quality is subpar. Did I mention that TECH SUPPORT WAS OF NO HELP! No one to date can find a fix for this. My seven year old HP-7310 scans the photos much better than the brand new MFC-7360N.
One feature I did like was the ability to scan 40 pages at one time and output it to a pdf file.
My final consensus:
A good practical multi-function printer if you not interested in quality scanning.

Good Machine

This replaced my old Brother 4-in-one machine (I liked that one too). Good replacement. I'm loyal to Brother. Cooling fan is a little noisy, but shuts off fast. I like the Ethernet connection capabilities. The scanner feeder tilts upward more than the old model, and requires a little more room vertically. Increased paper loading capacity is good.

LCD Display
on March 22, 2012

Your LCD Display is useless. No matter where I place the all in one, above or below or beside me, I cannot read it. I do have the contrast to the max. Is is that expensive to put a good back light behind the lettering for ease of reading?
Also, the read out is only readable if the person is below the machine since it faces up. Can't you place it facing at an angle on the front of the machine for ease of reading?

Excellent Performance To Date!

I currently own 5 printers and three of them are Brother products. I purchased the IMFC-7360N to replace a 6 year old Brother all in one printer. It was still working and I gave to a family member. I use the MFC-7360N as my all purpose machine for black & white printing, fax and scan. I do a lot of scanning in my small business and this is one of the best scanners I have owned to date.
