I have been familiar with Chris Clark’s blue eyed-soul album ‘Soul Sounds’ for over 40 years! After all that time it still sounds fresh and now it’s available again in all its re-mastered splendour
‘Soul Sounds’ was never a commercial success but over time it has become a firm favourite in Motown & northern soul circles and it’s now been recognised for the classic that it is. This release has a lovely 20 page booklet filled with fascinating stories about Chris’s life and the making of the album penned by renowned music writer A. Scott Galloway plus lots of beautiful photographs. The music is of course timeless and to my ears the album was packed full of hits like 'I Want To Go Back There Again', 'Love's Gone Bad', ‘From Head To Toe’, 'If You Should Walk Away', 'Do Right Baby Do Right' & 'Sweeter As The Days Go By'. Surprisingly neither the album nor any of the singles made any real impact and after one further album she moved onto other ventures. This release includes the alternate stereo mix of ‘Do Right Baby Do Right' as a bonus track.
Chris Clark should have been a huge star as she had huge talent. Now thanks to Paul Williams and Reel Music this is your chance to hear what you have been missing out on. Please put this CD in your record collection. You won't regret it.
