Nice Lens

This is one nice lens if you're not a snob. One camera shop I deal with turned up there collective noses at this one. Went to another shop and picked one up. Not disappointed so far. Yes, the camera connection is plastic. OH NO! So if it last a few years, I'll be happy. No, it's not one of those pricey white lenses. But it works for me so far. Yes, I will buy the 70-200 2.8L. But later. I'm still enjoying this one. We are traveling to Europe this summer. Which one would I take a chance on losing or breaking in transit? My pix will be just fine.

Nice Lens

I bought this lens a few months ago for my Canon T1i! I use this lens quite a bit with almost everything I do! I like it very much for events with many people! It is the perfect size and allows me to get close up shots with out having to be in peoples faces! The price for this lens in fabulous!!
There are though a few things that I am a bit disappointed with. First off I am very disappointed with the time it takes to focus. It takes a bit of thinking on the lenses part to get the right focus. Second I am not to happy with the end ring moving so much! It is harder to work with filters and is VERY noisy!!
The slow focus is something that anyone can work with and the end ring moving is also something I can live with.. So over all I would recommend this lens! It is a nice lens to have in your bag just in case!
Cons: Slow auto-focus

Recently I replaced my Rebel XT with the T1i. Along with an included 18-55mm IS, this lens was included in a bundled offer, along with an 8G card. This lens gives me the longer distance views I wanted, and they are clear views. I also do astro photography, and this lens will show the craters on the Moon. Overall, very sharp images. I am well pleased with it.
Pros: typical ease of use, well built, not too heavy
Cons: focus a bit slow but accurate

I purchased this lense due to the following reasons listed below: * EF-S lense that matches my Canon EOS Rebel XSi * IS (image stabilizer) feature for handheld shooting of shutter speeds 4 f-stops faster. * Magnification/conversion factor of 1.6 * Best of the other 5 EF-S lenses * Small, compact, and weighs just 13.8 oz.

Needed lens for long shots, outdoor, some action. Very easy to use - extremely intuitive - super fast focus/wonderful detail. Exceeds expecatations.
Pros: Super-sharp images, Fast auto-focus, better with flash / low light than imagined
Cons: a little bulky

Great Lens!

I recently became a Canon customer after switching from Nikon so I don't have an expert review on this lens but after using it for just a few days I know this lens is reliable. I've been testing the lens with all of the automatic settings so far and the photos look beautiful. I am yet to see what it can do when I play with the settings manually. The zoom and focus are very smooth; this is great for zooming during videos so it isn't choppy. This lens is a must-have for new photographers. I can't speak for experienced photographers but this lens is working great for me, a photographer of around two years.

I received this lens as a Christmas present for my photography work for web sites. I have used this lens a lot and it performs great. Images are very sharp, color representation is great and the zoom is fantastic. I do not particularly care for the image stabilization, but I am very very happy with this wonderful lens.
Pros: Super-sharp images, Superior build quality, Fast auto-focus, solid in hand
