Design problem

I purchased this product for our new home. Two years in service it started to smell very bad. I have taken it completely apart and cleaned it but after a few weeks it smells as bad as before. The grinding mechanism doesn't do it's job and the filter lets debris in which gets stuck in the float mechanism. It is a major job to do a thorough cleaning and not worth the time. I am trashing this thing and buying a new one, it is disgusting and my whole house is starting to smell from it. Think twice before purchasing one of these!

Similar Poor Experience

We purchased this model approx 5 years ago. We had issues from the start w/ door not closing properly and dishes not drying completely. After a few initial repair calls under warranty, we learned to live with these flaws (it is very quiet). Recently, I noticed the wash cycles were etching my glassware and now the heating mechanism has stopped working completely. I'm calling service but don't have high hopes this time will be any different and will look for a different brand if GE can't make it right.

Headache

Nothing but trouble. Back to handwasing dishes as it has been so frustrating with time and knowledge of repairmen! Spent months trying to get dishwasher to work. Time had to take off from job waiting on repairmen!

Don't waste your money!

We bought in May 2016 and would not recommend. This model has never dried my dishes even with the power dry on, and I use Jet Dry that I fill up twice a week so not sure what the issue is! The last 6 months its not cleaning my dishes and the water is not hot in the dishwasher so I am guessing that is the issue but have no clue why its no longer working and am guessing I need a new dishwasher already after only 4 years! That's insane considering my last one lasted 12 years!

Motor Problems

My motor has gone twice in 5 years. I replaced the motor in March and it went in December. I wasn't even home this summer. The drying has always been terrible. I do like the how it washes the glasses and the adjustable rack but this was not built to last. I am buying a Bosch instead of repairing it again.

Need to Wash prior to Loading

Only reason we purchased was due to slate finish. Went top end since we felt performance would be increased. It is quiet and looks good, however it does not clean well at all.
