Realy dissapointed with this Profile

I have been loyal to the GE Profile brand for years so would never have expected the dissapointment with this DW. Even with properly positioned dishes, it does a poor job of cleaning. I find the plastic moveable parts inside flimsy and do not always stay in position. The utensil holder is quite clumsy since when loading you must fully open the door and roll out the lower rack. Lastly, I was thrilled to have controls at the top and hidden however my plumber, who had installed several similar DWs did not want to secure this one at thefront top of the machine since you would not be able to close the door and be able to see top contols. The unit ended up chipping off a piece of formica which now cannot be replaced. That was my last straw. I will never again purchase another Profile DW.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Good features, love the bottle wash function!

Bought this two months ago and really enjoying it so far. The bottle wash is great for both sports bottles and hot food thermos containers. I have been barely rinsing things prior to placing them in the dishwasher and my 11-year old is loading it and dishes are still coming out clean. The one time I had problems with things seemingly not being clean enough I realized I hadn't cleaned the filters on the floor of the washer, once this was done it was back to great performance. I also love the adjustable top rack heights and foldable bottom rack!

Overall, great product!

We bought this dishwasher two months ago. Overall, I am pleased. On occasion, I do find the door is a bit hard to close when attempting to start the dishwasher. This is possibly just the seal - there are never any leaks. This dishwasher is so quiet when in operation. The dishes come out very clean as well!
I would recommend this to a friend!

GE Profile Dishwasher

Received it several months ago but needed to wait to install until kitchen remodel phase nearly complete, so install was yesterday. Inside of box and all literature was soaked when we first received it; shipping company had turned the container (box) on its side, and any water inside from testing at factory leaked out, and there must have been a lot. We had unpacked it then and dried everything out. The door tension needed to be tightened because the door balance would not allow it to self-close within 20 degrees from vertical, as stated in the instructions. We are unable to replace "floor protect" drip tray on underside b/c it will not fit after the dishwasher is in place; we have the leveling leg screws set at about 3/8ths inch which is too low to allow that drip pan to slide underneath (so we had to leave the drip pan off); as a result, we are unable to connect the leak sensor to the drip pan and have left that sensor sitting on the floor (poor design). Thank goodness we see no leaks after running the washer four times. Sound barrier insulation is too thick to install easily behind toekick plate. The dishwasher is VERY quiet, so we have left that insulation off as we do not feel it is needed. I was a bit concerned as to how the vent opening would be crowded/obstructed perhaps by all of that insulation, but not a problem without the insulation. The front is brushed stainless steel which has horizontal residue marks from the protective blue plastic margins (hoping that will wash off eventually so I do not notice it). I have washed it with Windex and water with mild detergent, and that has not resolved entirely; I will acquire stainless steel cleaner. Perhaps this is left-over from the water leaking out of the unit and leaving marks when the shipping company tipped it on its side for shipping. There also are marks visible along the very bottom of the stainless steel front which could be residue of some type or rub marks or something. It is an area that was underneath the blue plastic and discovered after the plastic was removed yesterday. I am hoping that will be gone after I clean it with stainless steel cleaner, but I fear maybe not because it is so prominent. I will see if this bothers me. Washer is very quiet and attractive-looking. It will take a little getting used to, but the door, when fully open, is so very low to the floor, about 5 or 6 inches from the floor which may be difficult for people who cannot bend down that far (not a problem for us); therefore, the bottom tray is low, too. As others had mentioned, drying of dishes not so good, but that I understand is pretty standard with the energy efficient dishwashers. So far, so good. We did feel the installation instructions were lacking in areas. We are intelligent, hands-on, educated people, and we were scratching our heads at times but made it though. I think this washer will work fine for us. I do like the handle b/c I can hang a hand towel there for convenience. The operation of the machine is easy. Repeating again, it is very quiet (at least compared to the last one we had).
