Working out well for the cost

Microwave is doing the job we expected. We are still getting used to using the unit. One complaint is the light in side is not bright enough to see what is going on in oven when cooking something. Otherwise, time well tell as to the durability

Good but not for longer

I have been with the microwave for 2 years, few issues with the controls but unplugging it for few minutes and back to normal. Now sounds like is working but is not heating, time to buy a new microwave

Relatively short life.

Lasted about 2 years. Started arcing and popping so I had to unplug it. I don't think it's worth getting a technician to come out but I would have thought the product would last more than 2 years. Bummed.

magnetron has failed

Our JES1656SRSS was manufactured in February of 2018 and bought in May of 2018. The magnetron has failed, but is only covered by a 1 year warranty. Our prior GE microwave lasted 18 years so we expected more from this one.

This microwave hates cooking bacon

Maybe the bacon creates too much moisture, but a year after we bought this for our remodeled kitchen (had the opening built specifically for this pretty thing), it stopped working after cooking 2 batches of bacon. Nothing would restart this. Bough another one -- again, because it fit the cubby. A year later, cooking bacon again, and the screen went black. I let it rest, unplugged it, and it came back on. Whew!

Poor quality/construction

The film inside the door has "bubbles" and looks terrible. The original microwave was replaced within several days of first delivery. Second one has same problem which gets worse with use and we've only had it 2 days. Not sure what this will mean down the road but definitely a sign of poor quality. I doubt they will replace it again since this seems to be a problem with the basic construction of the microwave. GE Customer service is great though and it's not their fault the product is so bad.
