Screen Resolution an issue with Chrome & Evernote
on November 2, 2013
Posted by: mikeu
I loved the unit but had to return it due to issues with Chrome browser and Evernote. The chrome browser does not scale properly when using the yoga in tablet mode. The touch input is off by 1&1/2". That can be corrected by turning on the HIDPI flag in chrome, but then some key extensions no longer work (last pass and google voice). The other trick I tried is to manually scale the display but that causes the chrome menu area to become microscopic.
The Evernote desktop app does not scale properly either.
If you don't user Chrome or Evernote this is a fabulous computer. And if Lenovo would have at least offered a 1920x1080 display as an alternative, I would still own one.

Getting Closer to the Perfect Device
on November 9, 2013
Posted by: Blueyes
I would have to say the Yoga 2 is pretty close to the perfect device for me. It has everything I need minus a some things I would love to see in the Yoga 3.
Wish List to make it the Perfect Device
1. Optical Drive. I know it is an ultra book, but I need an optical drive for some of the stuff I do, and I don't feel like having to carry around an external optical drive.
2. More USB ports. Should have at least 3 USB ports at the very least.
3. Make a Thinkpad version.
4. The ability to swap out a battery.
5. VGA output

Best Laptop/all around computer
on November 11, 2013

You can't write a full review here. Post elsewhere. Message comes on that review is too long. No other info on why. Model 59394177. It's perfect as a replacement for my aging desktop. I had some problems with the micro HDMI port. The first micro HDMI cable I used would wiggle in the port causing me to lose the display. The second cable I bought works much better with a more snug, but not tight fit. Comfortable to work on in tablet or laptop mode. Runs surprisingly cool and boot-up takes just a few seconds. Display resolution was too much. I run at 2048 X 1152. The "Slot-in Case" they offer for this product does not have openings for all the connections. There is none for the Micro HDMI slot and part of a USB port is blocked enough to make it unusable. I returned the one I purchased.
Pros: Battery, Input/Output compatibility, Weight, Warranty, Processor, Support, Memory, Bluetooth, Video card, Wireless card, Keyboard/peripherals, Screen size, Build Quality, Storage, Display resolution, Display performance
Cons: Included Software, Software compatibility, i.e. 11

Good laptop but problems on Linux
on November 13, 2013

The computer is a good replacement for my current Thinkpad other than the fact that they've changed the keyboard layout, and there are a number of problems with Linux. I've gotten Arch working, but it was a pain in the neck because of driver issues. Clearly no one at Lenovo installed it on this machine before they released it. If I ran Lenovo, everyone would be required to dual-boot.
I really don't like how they changed the keyboard layout, moving the left ctrl and fn keys is the most obvious annoyance, but the home / end, page-up / page-down, and the other special key changes are also a hassle. There is plenty of space for a compatible layout on this machine. They used to put good keyboards into their 13" Thinkpads.
Pros: Weight, Memory, Storage, Display resolution
Cons: Battery, Included Software, Software compatibility, poor linux support

No pen = not useful

I'm a Professor at a university. The biggest reason to get a tablet for me is the ability to write notes, draw sketches, in meetings and while reviewing other student's reports and to annotate slides while teaching my students. Or, as a student, the ability to copy down notes on the prof's lecture slides. This is an amazingly powerful feature that is unfortunately missing from this computer. It's a no go, despite the other nice features. The only thing this computer offers me without that is a high price.

Astounding Ultrabook for the Price
on November 19, 2013

The screen resolution is incredible, text and icons are super crisp and watching higher than 1080p content is awesome, the programs I use primarily (Spotify, IE11 and Office 2013) scale fine. Currently the only program that I've had issues with is VLC. The 'yellow' issue has been completely overblown and once you have installed the BIOS and EM Updates from Lenovo it's barely noticeable. It's slim and weighs very little, which is a huge bonus when carrying it round. The speakers are excellent. The performance from the i7/8GB/256GB model I've got is excellent. The battery life is best described as average (for a Haswell Ultrabook), I've applied the latest BIOS and EM Updates which Lenovo have released and in 'Daily Mode' at 50-75% it predicts 5-8 hours.
Pros: Weight, Processor, Memory, Storage, Display resolution, Display performance
Cons: Battery

Love it with i7 and 8 Gigs
on November 20, 2013

In my role at work we buy and test many IS products. Of ultrabooks, this Yoga 2 Pro is now my favorite. Initially you think...it only bends one direction, right? But as you start to use it and you look at the suggested uses and apps that Lenovo gives you it's really cool. I am now looking to buy one of these for home. I'm not sure I will go for the Pro, even though I'd be giving up the QHD resolution. And I'm not sure I can afford top of the line i7/8Gigs. So I'm going to see if I can get my hands on a regular Yoga 13 and/or Yoga 11S. But if I felt I had the budget it for it, I'd own one for work and one for home in a heartbeat.
Pros: Weight, Processor, Included software, Software compatibility, Memory, Screen size, Build Quality, Display resolution, Display performance
