total excitement.

The first weekend I've owned this camera, has been nothing but pure photography excitement. What I see through the view finder has been exactly what the picture was. No touch up or shading to be done to try to get it close to what my eyes saw. Quality pictures that brings the actual beauty of this time of the year. On the second day of ownership, I was able to photograph something in the wild, that I had never seen before. We were on our way home from Church and saw an American Bald Eagle on a kill out in a field. We also saw him in flight. You can bet the picts were being shot! It was like a good omen on the purchase of this camera. Thanks Canon.

This camera is just unbelievable. From numerous settings reserved for much more expensive pro level cameras, to superp picture quality. You can get T3 with 2 IS lenses (18-55 IS and 55-250 IS) for price of T2I. I just can not see why would anyone take very little performance gain over 2 lens setup. I migrated from Canon Digital Rebel XT, and the T3 is just a different ball park. While Rebel XT looks and feels more solid, T3 picture quality just blows it away. I was very sceptical if it is possible to buy a good camera at such low price. That lasted about five minutes. From very easy auto settings to very adjustible creative functions. This camera does it all. When You read some of the reviews, it is questionable at least (cheap build, low resolution screen etc), but when You can use this camera for few minutes You can ask why would You pay almost double for T3I? Unless You have unlimited budget (but then why not to buy D60), the rotating screen, or higher resolution ( rearly used to fullest), or full HD Movie (still only for about 15 minutes) just does feels wrong. My biggerst complaint ould be the grip, i would like it to be more solid and beefy.
Pros: good battery life, Nice features/settings, Quick Start-up time, excellent image quality, Bright LCD, Solid Operation, Lightweight/Portable, Simple controls/menu, easy to use
Cons: Poor build quality

Excellent camera - you won't regret it

I chose this camera when I decided to upgrade from my Canon Powershot SX10 is. I have NOT regretted my decision. There was no learning curve at all when moving to this DSLR from my point-and-shoot. You can shoot in manual mode and control all of the settings yourself. The camera also has many other modes and scene selections that take great pictures if you want to let the camera control certain aspects. The T3 is easy to use. I recommend that you read the manual that comes on the enclosed CD - it goes into detail about the product and will have you getting away from the "auto" mode within the first few minutes of use. I am a photographer as a hobby and there is still a lot I need to learn about photography. However, just by stepping up to this camera, my pictures have improved greatly b/c of the better sensor and image quality that Canon is famous for. This is the 3rd Canon camera that I have owned (the first 2 were powershot point-and-shoots, this is the first DSLR). I highly recommend this camera - you will not be disappointed. There are tons of lenses, flashes, filters, and accessories available to take your photography to the next level.
I understand that this camera is considered an entry-level product. I have no other DSLR experience, so I can't speak to the prosumer and professional models and how they compare to this camera. All I can attest to is that this camera exceeded my expectations by leaps and bounds and I know that I will be using it for a long time to come!!!
Pros: good battery life, quiet, Nice features/settings, Quick Start-up time, excellent image quality, Superior build quality, Bright LCD, Solid Operation, Lightweight/Portable, Simple controls/menu, easy to use, ability to change lenses, professional feel

Great camera

I had a 20 yr old 35mm slr Canon that was still in use for any serious pictures. I finally decided to try a new digital slr. I had several lenses with my old camera and they all work perfectly with the new T3 so it was an easy decision to make. For what we use it for it for the additinal cost for the T2i or T3i didn't make sense. The T3 does a great job and picture quality very comparable to my old 35 mm camera only much easier to use. Battery life is great, easy to use and set up, my old Canon lenses can be used on this camera and my wife and kids love it. This camera also does a nice job on video but it plays back best on quicktime rather than other players.
Pros: good battery life, Nice features/settings, Quick Start-up time, excellent image quality, Bright LCD, Solid Operation, Simple controls/menu, easy to use

This is my first DSLR camera. I have had it for a few months, and have taken hundreds of pictures. Each time I go out, my pictures are getting better and better. I can not thank the Best Buy Associate who recommended this camera enough. I am so happy that I spent my money on this camera. I am very impressed with how easy it was to learn about the settings and the usage of the camera overall. Thank you Canon! I would recommend this camera to any beginner, like me. :)
Pros: easy of use
Cons: wish it wasn't as heavy as it is tho.

Best Beginner Camera Ever
on April 18, 2012

I bought this camera back in November, and I must say that it is a very good camera for beginners transitioning from higher end point and shoots to DSLRs. I don't understand why people say that this camera would be terrible, or maybe they are just used to something like the 5D Mark II or the 60D (let's just say something professional). The camera is very good overall, with all the functions clearly marked out. However, the design of the camera may impose to people with larger hands due to its compact size. Image quality is very nice, and actually this camera is almost like the previous XS.
I bring this camera everywhere I go because I just love it. It's compact, quality is good, but also it is pretty quiet when it takes pictures. I recommend this camera to individuals who really want to start the hobby of photography, and I hope they enjoy the same thing I have experienced with this camera.
Pros: quiet, image quality, compact, features/design
Cons: build quality

Very Nice Camera!

I have had my Rebel T3 for about a year now and I am very happy. Being my first DSLR camera I found this to have a solid build and alot of settings that I haven't had the chance to explore yet. The camera takes very sharp pictures. I like to take alot of outdoor pictures and It just performs great. Now I am looking to buy another lens for my camera and I plan to stay with the canon brand because I like their quality. The controls aren't hard to figure out and the booklet and cd that came with the camera helps you to understand how it operates. You cannot go wrong buying this camera it's worth every dollar. I would definetly recommend this camera to my friends.
Pros: good battery life, quiet, Nice features/settings, excellent image quality, Superior build quality, Bright LCD, Solid Operation, Simple controls/menu

Love this camera

This is my first digital SLR camera, although I have a 35 mm and several digital cameras. This camera is easy to operate and takes great pictures. The one complaint is that the lens cover does not stay on and unless you are very careful and keep checking you may lose it. I used the camera to take pictures in a museum and turned off the flash, the pictures came out great. Woud recommend this camera for the beginner SLR user as well as a more expierenced photographer.
Pros: quiet, Nice features/settings, Simple controls/menu, easy to use
Cons: lens cover is easy to lose as it doesn't stay on
