Perfect SLR Camera

I was getting bored with simple point and shoot cameras so I decided to treat myself to something a bit more at my level. I have had this camera for 2 days now and I am so glad I made the choice to make the T3 my new friend. The photo quality of Canon has always been amazing, but I never knew how much I was missing out until I upgraded to this baby. Out of the box it was up and ready to go! The controls are super simple and i'm so glad Canon finally lets users use the LCD to capture photos. I have very few cons about this camera. I am new to the Rebel SLR family so it will take me some time to adjust from my previous Sd1200. Overall though I think this is a great camera. More then what I was expecting. Thank you Canon!
Pros: Nice features/settings, Quick Start-up time, excellent image quality, Lightweight/Portable, Simple controls/menu, easy to use, button layout, can use the lcd for shooting
Cons: lcd quality could be better, no 1080p video recording, the case feels a little cheap
I would recommend this to a friend!

Small but real great

Just sold my older gear in anticipation of buying the coming 5D3 and have just been left with my wife's T3 while waiting... Big surprise, this toy is amazing! Not that it feels too solid and that features are too extensive but it really delivers. Great IQ/price ratio. Though It feels quite weird and imbalanced when mounted with a lens like my 70-200/2.8 II, results are really incredible, I mean it. All that with "only" 12.6 Mp (think about all the fuss for megapixels cameras!). This also means that RAW files are only 12 MB and faster to process.
All this tells me is that digital technology has made huge advances over the last decade. There is no bad camera anymore. You want to do serious photo, invest in serious lenses. They will stay. Cameras? They will go. Throw this flimsy kit lens and buy faster and better stuff. Nothing more than 2.8. You'll be amazed too with what can be done with a simple and affordable 12.6 Mp T3.
Pros: great iq, affordable, light and easy
Cons: doesn't feel too solid
I would recommend this to a friend!

I just bought this camera earlier today and i absolutely love it. I am new the DSLR world, but taking pictures has always been a hobby of mine so i figured why not buy a nice camera to portray the hobby further. It is simple to use for not ever having a camera like this before. I don't know much about the DSLR cameras for now but i hope to learn and this camera i believe is a great place to start. Others have said the zoom isn't fantastic but for starters I don't think it's anything to complain about. I can not wait to really get to use this camera and its features.
Pros: good battery life, Nice features/settings, Quick Start-up time, excellent image quality, Lightweight/Portable, Simple controls/menu, easy to use
Cons: noisy

Good for Beginners

This was my first digital SLR camera. I went with the T3 because of the good price & simplicity. My biggest problem with this camera is the LCD. It is terrible. In fact, on multiple occasions, I couldn't even tell my photos were out of focus. To this day I still have that problem. I have to zoom in on the subject to see if it's sharp. Another problem I had with this camera was the use of a remote. I did not know when I purchased this that the Canon shutter release would not work with the T3. That's because it doesn't have the IR beams. Big disappointment for me. The last problem I had with this camera is the auto focus. It seems like it never knows what to focus on when I'm not behind it (I take many portraits). On a more positive note, the battery life is excellent. I hardly charge it and when I do, it only takes 1-2 hours. The rebel T3 is also very simple - it comes with preset shooting modes that are great for beginners.
Overall, if I had a friend who was looking for a DSLR, I wouldn't recommend this. Try the T2i.
Pros: good battery life, Simple controls/menu, easy to use
Cons: Missing features/settings, Poor build quality, bad-quality lcd
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Great camera with a caveat

I was very excited to get my EOS Rebel T3. It seems to have everything I need to actively pursue my hobby in retirement. My only disappointment is that I cannot attach the camera to my Mac because there is no recognition of the camera. I have to take the disc out of the camera and insert it into the computer to use the software that came with the camera. If I use my PC based camera I have no problem.
Pros: good battery life, quiet, excellent image quality, Superior build quality, Bright LCD, Solid Operation
Cons: not for mac users
I would recommend this to a friend!
