Incomplete instruction for IP PION entry
on March 13, 2014
Posted by: Thommo
There should be clear instructions for entering the required IP OPIN. If there were such instruction, I did not see it. The system allowed me to file without IP PIN even though it was required for IRS acceptance of the filing.

I HATE TAXES

On the e-file page it could be cleared that option A is to get a number for the IRS (only that is not needed) OR option B is to enter the AGI from the prior year.
I was confused.

I liked the detail and structure for organizing and listing charitable donations. Could provide more descriptions for stuff like I donate to church, etc.
Pros: I bought or sold investments

Turbotax Business 2013

If you make an attachment to the return (e.g. 8543) and you want to delete the attachment and reattach another version before filing the return, you cannot do it. You need to do the return all over again in order to attache a corrected attachment. Unacceptable!

Great Help

I have been using Turbo Tax since the first year it came out. I am sure you keep a file on who purchases your software. I think you should provide your loyal customers with some sort of incentive

Frustrating

1. Imported Dividend and Interest data from Schwab 1099 Composite. TurboTax did not recognize the Interest data that had already been imported. I had to manually enter it.
2. I had to enter and re-enter cost basis for a small closed end fund. The information was on a Schwab 1099 Composite.
3. TurboTax updates were suggested before the Federal Review. I tried to download them and received a message "could not connect". The entire system locked up and I had to reboot the computer. The updates were installed after I rebooted the system.
4. Some updates were available. at re-opening of TurboTax on the next day. The updates were downloaded and installed. The said the system would restart. It never did and I had to manually restart the system.
6. Before E-filing, TurboTax asked for information already downloaded from a 1099R.
7. I put in credit card information to E-file my IL. State Tax Return. After I went to E-file the state tax return, TurboTax needed more information. I supplied the information and then received the message that my state return could not be E-filed in Illinois. However, I can print out the return and mail. it. What is going to happen to my E- filing fee?
8. Problem 7 happened last year using TurboTax. I was told it would be fixed.
9. Why is this review so long? This is a goodbye E-mail. I have been with TurboTax for about 12 years. It seems to be getting worse. I will be considering a Tax Accountant next year.

Charles Schwab down-loaded information from two of my accounts that had a different Fed ID no.
IF I had not checked carefully, I would have paid approx. $10,000 more in taxes

should ask if you first if your estimated itemized deductions will exceed the standard deduction amount or, if not, are still needed for your state return. This would have saved some unnecessary steps compiling itemized items that totaled less than the standard deduction.
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I moved
