TurboTax is not totally user friendly, for me at least. I didn't do my taxes in one day. Hard to figure out how to get out of TurboTax to work on the taxes at a later date. Example of Cons: I'm trying to submit my review but TurboTax keeps asking me to preview my review. I've done that and I still get "preview my review" again and again with error messages about my nickname. How does one submit a review after previewing the review? Example of an Error Message: We're sorry but we encountered the following issue(s): Your nickname has already been taken by another reviewer. Please choose a different one. I only have one nickname folks! I've dreamed up some but still get the same error message.
What's great about it: TurboTax was very helpful.
What's not so great: TurboTax can be, at times, confusing and not very user friendly. But, your "Help" did help, at times.
Before Turbo Tax I had a lot of approach-avoidance issues involved with doing our taxes. Paper work had to be sorted and resorted, the coffee had to be just so hot, and the stars had to be in a certain non-retrograde alignment. But with Turbo Tax I can plunge into the work because it tolerates multiple interruptions, edits, backtracking and delays for printer misbehavior. The tax returns come out clean and correct and ready to undergo a confidant electronic handoff to Uncle Sam. We've used it for years and will continue to do so.
What's great about it: One of the best features of TT is the integration of the previous year's data with the current year's.
Highly recommended to anyone who has to file federal, state, and local income taxes. Can't say enough about it. Eleven years with TurboTax, can't imagine sending my taxes out for commercial preparation. Been there, done that. This is better.
What's great about it: Never have had an error or return rejected. Easier to work with each year. Saves considerable paper file space.
I have been using Turbotax for about 8 years now, without a problem, but this year I spent so much time trying to figure how to answer the questions. I'm not sure that I'll buy Turbotax next year.
What's great about it: personal information was already in the program
Easy to use. Sometimes have to refer to the web to understand the answers to question that are in legal wording, not a lawyer. Understood, covering liabilities. What I don't like based on past experience working in the business is charging to e-file state when the process is using the same pipeline through the IRS to get to the state. And when you have to pay to buy the state. Yes states included but that box costs more so, yes, we're paying for it.
What's great about it: Easy and free fed e-filing
What's not so great: Charging for state e-file when it's sent to Fed who then files it to state.
