not clear on if a person can claim homestead in MI if not residing in own home or if renting. it only said a full time resident. not clear. also with limited vision hard to read all the light gray boxes and light colors
What's great about it: easy to follow directions
What's not so great: city and state had to retype w2 info several times
I had a problem with rounding in the estimated tax payment section. Paid an amount with $xxx.50, and software rounded up for each quarter and as a result amount shown as paid was $2.00 more than I actually paid to IRS. I had to do two states this year so had a new state form to explore. I found that some of the buttons I checked and then had to recheck did not keep the rechecked value unless I closed Turbo Tax, saved the form and then re-opended Turbo Tax. It was a bit frustrating. Overall though a really good product.
What's great about it: Product has improved in terms of flexibility of use.
What's not so great: Some values do not seem to "stay" when changed.
I've always liked Turbo Tax, the only comment I can make negative is that I wish it included 1 free state E-file. I'm pretty sure most folks only deal with one state so why make it more difficult to have to separately deal with state filing & it's associated charges,
What's great about it: Easy to use seems fool proof
What's not so great: Wish it included 1 state free so one doesn't have to go through all the extra stuff
Federal and state forms are easy to follow and seem very complete, they covered EVERYTHING.
Only small negative: I forget where, but during the review of the state form, I once seemed to go round and round in a loop, returning to the same point, and I forget how I got out of it, but I did, and got through the state form okay.
What's great about it: Instructions and questions very clear and easy to answer.
Sometimes when I go back from where I am working to change previous info, and then go forward to the original spot, I find that some of the previously entered data is gone. This means I have to enter it again. I wish you would change that.
What's great about it: The guide gets better every year
Have used this product for over 15 years. But the 2013 program was plagued by many, large updates. I use a Mac, have for years with Turbo Tax without issue. Processing the data was never an issue. The issue is that this year the “Validating Information” failed every time during online filing. Went to Turbo Tax communities and saw many of the same complaints. Mail the returns. Come on Turbo Tax, you failed at one of your biggest selling points.
What's great about it: Streamlined data entry
What's not so great: COULD NOT FILE ON LINE, NO MATTER WHAT!
