Under the Medical expenses, it would have been helpful to know before I started that physicians, medications, hospitals, and labs were each separate categories. I had to go back several times to adjust costs between categories.
What's great about it: Format was easy to follow
What's not so great: Tell me upfront when deductions are broken into several categories, i.e. Medical expenses
Love using Turbo Tax. I like that I can do the taxes myself with a system that will track my prior years' info. and give me some basic tax assistance, such as explanations of some of the sections and some examples to help me figure out what info. I need to put where and/or if I qualify for certain aspects. It also makes e-filing super easy for incredibly fast refunds.
What's great about it: so easy to use year after year since prior-year tax info. is automatically pulled into the new returns.
What's not so great: We have two user profiles on our computer, and it was challenging because I do the taxes but I'm not the computer admin.
Started using Turbo Tax in 2005 and stopped using in 2010 due to complexity of taxes. Was able to use this program again this year and the improvements are great. I will use it again next year.
What's great about it: No duplication of information
Turbo Tax is easy to use and works well on a mac. Only problem I encountered was with filling out New Mexico return since there was a form missing. Customer service was very helpful, courteous and knowledgeable. Turns out I couldn't file NM electronically but it was helpful having Turbo Tax do the calculations. Now I have to use the State site to file.
great and helpful though still has 1 big annoyance

It has definitely made filing taxes easier, especially when the companies I deal with (paychecks, stocks, etc.) have the numbers online.
However - and I've complained about this for years - I wish it would come back to EXACTLY the place I was when I have to leave a screen to do something! Whether it's to go to another part of the program because I missed entering something, or if I have to leave the program (because who can do their taxes in one session??) it STILL does not resume exactly where I left off. This is pretty annoying.
What's great about it: ability to retrieve *most* numbers from online
What's not so great: won't go back to the EXACT place you left from
I've used Turbo Tax for many years and have always been able to count on it to prepare my taxes accurately. This year I had a headache getting one item taken care of. We used to be general partners in a K-1 partnership. We sold it at least 2 years ago. Turbo Tax keeps asking me to enter the data from our K-1 even though I say that I did not receive any form. Then when it checks for errors it won't let me out until I have filled something in. Why isn't there a place to delete that partnership. I tried everything and finally I believe I got it deleted from the Federal form just to find it crop up on the state form and stop the whole filing process. Please do something about this before next year. Thank you.
What's great about it: Help with walking thru and knowledge of where to enter want data.
What's not so great: Getting stuck going around and around on one item.
