Disappointed in TurboTax.

I went through the entire process of completing my federal return and then had to do it all over again for me and my wife, because TurboTax did not ask me one simple question. My wife lived 50% in one state and 50% in another, while I lived 100% in only one state. If this is the case, you cannot file a married filing jointly return for federal. You have to file married filing separately. TurboTax did not tell me this until I had completely finished my federal return. Only when I started my state return was I informed. So, I had to go back and do my federal return again and one for my wife, and then move onto the state returns. TurboTax should ask you that up front on the federal return if either of you lived part time in another state, and then inform you if you have to file separately.
What's great about it: The entries were easy to complete and searched for all solutions.
What's not so great: Completely redo my federal return because Turbotax did not ask me a simple question from the beginniing.
This is our first time using turbo tax. It was a lot easier to use than I thought it would be. I like the audit tracker. Makes me feel more comfortable filing my taxes. Will continue to use this going forward!
I have used Turbo Tax since 2006...never a problem. I like being able to file my taxes in a swift and affordable manner. Turbo Tax does that for me. I would recommend it without question.
What's great about it: Loved being walked through step by step, directions are clear, and there's other resources when you still don't get it
What's not so great: Program processed slowly and needs reminder at the beginning to check for updates.
Good But Could Be Better And Should Correct Errors

Turbotax is easy to use but a little more expensive than competitor solutions. I have used Turbotax since the late 1990s. My biggest issue with Turbotax, although the other tax software has the same issue, is: TurboTax has known about an issue with Alabama state tax computations when having to file with multiple states since 2000 and has not corrected the issue although it affects a small number of users. The issue cause the state taxes to be filed manually instead of e-filing because you must override their computations. 14 years is an unacceptable time to correct any known error such as this. If the other tax software on the market did not have the same issue I would not give it an average rating and would have changed my tax software vendor.
What's great about it: Easy To Use
What's not so great: Does not compute all tax situations correctly
Overall great. I've always had a problem with foreign pensions because those governments do not issue a 1099R and hence do not have a Federal ID number. TT will not let the tax documents be e-filed because it wants this number. So every year I have to mail in my return
What's great about it: Ease of use
What's not so great: No way to e-file because of "errors"
TT2013 loads easily and is straightforward to use but my MAJOR disappointment is their disloyalty to previous users. I used TT2010 and TT2011. In Tax Year 2012 I had to use a professional preparer. When I loaded TT2013 and tried to transfer my 2011 returns, it would not recognize them. TT2013 will ONLY transfer TT2012 returns. So I had to type in all of my personal info, charitable contributions, IRA basis, etc. So don't ever SKIP A YEAR or you're toast!! Thanks TT for some extra blisters.
What's great about it: Easy steps to follow
What's not so great: Don't ever miss a year or you'll be typing AGAIN
