We have a pretty straight forward return. The valuation tool for donated items was very helpful. I like the fact that since I used Turbotax last year I didn't have to re-enter items and when things have changed I was asked to make sure that I hadn't forgotten or missed something.
What's great about it: The guide walking me through the whole process was great. Helping to value our donations of items was very helpful.
I hate doing my taxes every year. However, TurboTax makes this chore a lot easier. It helps me to remember the deductions I entered last year and shows me some to consider for next year. Great job guys!
I love that I can work on my taxes when I have a quiet moment to concentrate. I can come back and double check anytime I want to. Last minute forms arrived in the mail? It's okay, I could add them in before filing. I was in control of getting every deduction.
I felt pretty comfortable with the federal tax return process and was able to go through it in timely manner. I got a little confused when manually transferring information from last years CA state return having to do with capital loss carry over. Overall it was a good experience.
What's great about it: Step by step walk through
What's not so great: Manual transer of previous state cap gain/loss info
I use Turbo Tax each year and have brought my brother and father in the loop as well!! We filled my father's past 5 years of taxes with Turbo Tax and it was a snap!
What's great about it: Easy to use each year, brings all information in from previous years
What's not so great: Nothing, the program is great for people like myself
Constantly ran into situations where questions weren't easily answered. Always the suggestion was to upgrade to the next more expensive offering. On limited partnerships, no clear path to adding certain forms for several foreign countries. Question is asked often of support which has a solution, but if it's asked that often, why not provide an option at the end of required country identification? Saves frustration and provides a much more inviting alternative. But for these two frustrations I would have given it 5 starsl.
What's great about it: Easiest way to file.
What's not so great: Too many unanswered questions giving impression an upgrade is necessary.
