Love Turbo Tax. I am a multiple year return customer. If you can do basic math and read, Turbo Tax will walk you through just about any situation. I have had problems in the past with having an unusual situation and the software just isn't programmed to think through every possibility in the world. Most of the time I can manually load the information into the form directly and it works fine. I do not like having to pay to file the state form. All submissions for e'filing should be included in the price.
What's great about it: Detailed questions
What's not so great: Sometimes software can't place a particular situation
Filed taxes again this year using TurboTax Deluxe. Easy to cover all aspects using the questions provided in the software. Professional looking return and quick refunds with efiling.
Even for a more complicated return, the Turbo Tax software was easy to use, and made the pain of preparing taxes tolerable. (It didn't to anything about making PAYMENT of taxes tolerable, but that's not their fault).
I was really nice to be able to pull in the previous years tax information, and also download my W2 from my employer.
I will recommend this to my friends and family.
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)
Suugest puting a block to enter the contribution year for make-up 401k contributions. My employer failed to make 2012 contributions and had to enter them on the 2013 W-2 as 2012 contributions.
What's great about it: About everything
What's not so great: There is no place to enter the 401K make-up contribution year (i.e., 2012 for 2013) on the W-2 worksheet.
