I have been using turbo tax since it was called macintax and it has always been a fine accurate program. I will probably use this program for the rest of my life.
This year I noticed that I can't start the program without incountering an advertisement called "Keep Up To Date With Tax Law" and a follow on "You did not complete the form..." window. Do you think that repeating this add will force me to fill out your form. It won't because I don't want to get SPAM and you say that you will contact me with advertisements unless I opt out. It just annoys me every time I use your otherwise great program.
Suggested solution: put a check box in the Keep Up to Date with Tax Law wndow that says "do not tell me again"
What's great about it: liked the transfer of data from year to year.
What's not so great: keep up with tax law statement bothers me
The software is easy to use and is understandable. Trying to review previous year tax forms is somewhat difficult. I wish there were a way to download the tax information to the CD and retain in a safe location. The major short coming is not being able to use the same CD for next year by some simple method of purchasing an update and downloading to the CD.
What's great about it: Simple to use
What's not so great: Review previous years forms is difficult
The fact that your are talked through each phase of income, expenses, charities, etc, puts you at ease. At the end it checks for any problems and walks you through each one.
What's great about it: Walks you through each phase
What's not so great: Got a little confused on 1099 stuff
You need better explanation of the information needed for the following: - cost basis for car trade-in - various entries relating to 401K distributions and rollowvers
What's great about it: good walkthrough
What's not so great: couldn't understand some stuff
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)
In previous version whenever you opened your current return it took you back to the item and page you were working on when you saved the file. This version did not have that feature which added time and confusion during the process. This also caused the calculations to get corrupted on at least twice.
It's okay to keep a good thing. You don't always have to roll out a new widget. Especially if it does nothing to make the product better!
What's great about it: The step by step data entry process and handy explanations for each item if needed.
What's not so great: Having to start over every time you reopen the current return.
Overall the experience was very helpful and very easy even easier than last year. I appreciate the great job in getting my taxes done . Keep up the good work
What's great about it: the ease of it
What's not so great: the printing of the form was somewhat difficult
You must have had some trouble with some customers. Your warnings-terms and conditions- at the beginning were extremely intuit benefiting. I'm worried about the information being exchanged with international companies and places.? I don't like that you can share info. any where else.
What's great about it: Shorter process. I didn't have to list the address for every charity.
What's not so great: A little confusing in the wages, pension, annuities section
