2013 Tax Review with Turbotax

I have used TurboTax for a number of years and each year it has improved in importing data and leading one through both state anf federal taxes. It has become easier for ordinary private citizens to do their personal income tax returns without having to seek the advice of local tax experts. I will continue to use TurboTax in the future.
What's great about it: Ease of use, Turbotax lead through, explanations and importing
What's not so great: Can't think of any

Taxes Done Easy

I've used TurboTax for the past seven years. Overall, it get easier to use each year, whether I'm just getting better at following instructions, or the process is better explained and executed, I'm not sure. This year, the process was the normal step-by-step, which I like, and was fairly easy to understand. The reference data, and the ability to check on meanings, etc.,is definitely better than previous years.
Love the E-file, although I wish I could pay the state e-file fee up front when I purchase the software, and be done with it.
Would definitely recomend TT to others.

What's great about it: Step-by-step process, easy to follow, shows last year's figures for comparison
What's not so great: Some forms a bit hard to understand and to get the right info to appear, e.g. Form K-1

It's a breeze!

I've been using TurboTax for many years, and it seems every year, it gets easier and easier. Love the product, and it takes the stress away. Great job, TurboTax team!
What's great about it: Super user-friendly, makes doing taxes almost fun!

Easy to use and file

Easy and generally simple to file your taxes if you itemize. Deductions and credits easy to determine. Also was able to use download function from a financial institution that would have taken me a long time to enter. Recommend the product highly.
What's great about it: Easy to follow interview and entering of information. Checking for errors or questions.
What's not so great: K1 instructions could heve been easier to follow.

Great Program

Turbo Tax is an excellent tax prep program. As a retired Tax Professional with 16 years experience with a well know national tax prep firm, this is an easy to use program for lay people with little knowledge of tax law.
What's great about it: Easy to use
What's not so great: None

Less struggle

It's nice to have a program that translates all the baloney-language of the IRS into real-life terms that make sense, and then distributes those figures into the proper places on 1040 (I hope). It's really a bummer that I have NEVER been able to get Turbo Tax to interface with our investment company to allow smooth transfer of all that fussy, picky data. (For example, US Govt Obligations portions of investment income - it's tedious to do all the research and calculations to come up with the right numbers when IF IT WOULD JUST IMPORT PROPERLY it would happen by instantaneous internet magic.) This year it also refused to recognize my last year's return in my computer's files - a lesser bummer, but still... However, my husband used to dread the 3 or 4 days that I would tear out my hair trying to figure out what the crazy 1040 was trying to say and how to appease it properly. Now it's pretty much one day's work. --So how is it that Germany and New Zealand (to name two I KNOW about) have a simple, 2-page form that any normal human being can fill out and be done with their taxes? Where do we sign up for that?
What's great about it: Turbo Tax has turned the Annual April Ordeal from a 3-4 day slog into a 7 hour march.
What's not so great: I have never been able to import data from our investment company - bummer.
