Lowered my Blood Pressure!

There are far too many ways to waste time and foul up your taxes slogging through the actual IRS forms. TurboTax asks you the simple questions that cut to the heart of the matter. I'm a DIY guy whenever I can be, but without TurboTax I just wouldn't have the confidence that I would be doing my taxes right.
What's great about it: Walked me right through the process
What's not so great: Could be better if it created a list of what documents I needed last year and would likely need this year.
I use Turbotax Deluxe every year. It is a breeze for filing taxes. Mine was a bit complicated this year, more than usual, but I was pleasantly surprised how well everything went.
What's great about it: Ease of use -
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I bought or sold investments
I've used Turbo Tax some years ago and have had a Preparer for the past few years. When my tax guy started giving me some hassle about what I thought were legitimate deductions I decided to go back to filing on my own and Turbo Tax is still the way to go! Easy to use and not too time consuming. A great product!
What's great about it: Easy way to file on your own.
My return was basic and relatively simple, but I appreciate the security of knowing it's being done correctly, that all of my deductions were taken, and all I have to look forward to now is my refund.
What's great about it: Depth of support and detailed communication during the process
What's not so great: Can't think of any cons
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)
I have enjoyed Turbo Tax for over ten years. It has made me keep my paperwork together and try to have everything in place when it was time to do taxes. Thank you.
What's great about it: Sufficient question asked to get needed answers for maximum refunds.
While my taxes have, admittedly, grown more complex over the two decades or more that I've been using TurboTax, it seems that in its effort to ask the most basic and direct questions, TurboTax has actually become much more complicated. The step-by-step method asks extremely specific questions and if the user's paperwork has the slightest oddity or divergence, it can be very difficult to figure out how to adjust, because both the coordination with tax forms and the tax help available are far inferior to what they used to be. It would also be enormously helpful if there were a way to share basic information across worksheets, such as charitable deductions and car information. My wife and I own two cars and we each drive both of them for our salaried jobs as well as for our respective independent contractor work. That means entering the same basic information about each car four different times. This year it was even more times because we are a same-gender couple in a state that does not recognize our marriage. I spent hours this year entering the same information over and over because of this, and because I needed to try different scenarios because I had no idea what would give us the largest refund.
What's great about it: Still worth it compared to paying someone
