I had to talk to Roberta of TurboTax help, to find I could only do one tax return on line. She was very good at guiding me with what I needed to do to be successful! After that it was a piece of cake.
What's great about it: It was simple to complete.
What's not so great: I should have been told when I started my first return, that I had to downloan Turbotax to be able to do two returns!
Have been using Turbo Tax for a long time - it's so much easier than slaving over the pubs and forms from IRS and, not having to pay hundreds of dollars to a return preparer (who uses a program too) only to find out they made errors after I reviewed the final return! Note: I'm a typical wage earning middle class taxpayer.
You do have to have some common knowledge/sense about what your taxes are all about - Turbo Tax walks you thru the steps and explains everything. So for the vast population of wage earners give it a try! For the naysayers "there are no extra $$ to be had simply by going to a pricy CPA" and they will not get you "out" of an audit!
What's great about it: ability to download investment info
Love the program, makes tax time so much easier. Had some questions that weren't directly addressed, so had to dig to get answers, but that was not unexpected. Keep up the good work.
What's great about it: Easy to use, accurate
What's not so great: Some Questions I had not direectly addressed, had to search
The only problem -- the delay in Form 8960 final instructions -- was the fault of the IRS. TurboTax prudently asked clients needing that form to wait until all documentation was complete before filing their returns, warning that premature filing could risk having to file an amended return. I appreciate that caution.
What's great about it: Easier handling of in-state vs. out-of-state muni bond income
What's not so great: Long wait before I could file, waiting for Form 8960 instructions
The handling of HSA's needs to be improved form 1099-SA
My son has an HSA that covers both he and his wife. Turbo tax seems to think that both he and his wife has an HSA account. This maybe some confusion on my part on what Turbo Tax is expecting. There should be some clarification that this is a JOINT account or It is one spouses account that covers both husband and wife.
What's great about it: Excellent Software which is improved every year that I have used it which is about 15
What's not so great: Some of the FONT is to small and the WHITE FONT is hard to see
