Every year this section is very confusing. Last year my spouse died and it made it even more confusing. This section really needs to be better worded so that the questions and answers are more clear to the user. All you have to do is look at the q&a forums to see how many people are confused by this section. Thanks!
My personal info was not imported from the federal form properly. The state return software asked me to enter the information, which I did. But then the state software told me the info shouldn't be entered directly into the state form, and it just hung up in the final review wanting me to delete the info and then asking me to enter it. Was on the phone with a VERY helpful and patient tech support person for an hour to get the problem solved.
What's not so great: Personal info not imported from Federal properly
I have been using Turbo Tax for a number of years now and it continues to be better each year. It is a real time saver. Prior to Turbo Tax, it was an all day and sometimes two day job at the Dining Room Table laboriously doing the tax thing.
Not any longer. Turbo Tax has changed everything. You learn from the first time you use it to organize for the oncoming year. From then on, it's just a piece of cake.
Say goodby to expensive Tax Preparers and say hello to Turbo Tax.
What's great about it: Every thing is ready, organized and in plain english.
At this time (3-6-2014), I electronically filed my 2013 tax return with Form 8839 (Adoption tax credit). I will wait to see if this filing is completed without difficulty. I would rather not have to paper file.
What's great about it: Turbo Tax allowed me to review Form 8839 prior to filing.
After doing my taxes myself by hand for years, I love using Turbo Tax and its keeping all the changes up-to-date. It is great to have confidence to know calculations and questions are done for me.
Not your best version, I have used TurboTax for the Mac since 1989 and wouldn't use anything else. However, there was too much info left in the background. Last years was very good, but this year I wanted to go back and review my answers but it seemed, especially near the end, that once I answered the question it skipped past them or I had to start over completely.
What's great about it: Turbo Tax is still easy and accurate
What's not so great: I didn't like not being able to go back thru the questions again,
