Great product. Did have some trouble with initially filing electronically due to a msg saying that line 12 on my 1099R could not exceed either the gross distribution from line 1 or the state distribution from line 14. The problem is my 1099R shows nothing in line 14 and never has in past returns. First time I got this msg ; went back and put the gross distribution in line 14 and then removed. Did see it on a later screen ?????? Anyway did finally get to file but thought it may be a glitch. Thanks

one problem

Good product and I managed to get around problems. There is a need to explain the reasons for some entries like the roth ira date requirement.
What's great about it: easy to go through the process.
What's not so great: Couldn't correct entry errors.
Pros: I bought or sold investments

Taxes == Grrrrr

Overall, the use of TurboTax was good. I have been using it for many years. However, had two issues this year:
1. This year's software didn't recognize last year's (2012) return so had to enter all the data by hand and did not get comparison with last year's return.
2. Entered a 1099-MISC for consulting, only to be told during the review that there was no linkage to Schedule C. I had to enter that linkage in Form mode by hand. This should have been accomplished automatically.
What's great about it: Easy insertion of data
What's not so great: Didn't recognize last years return, so had to type everything in. No connection between 1099-MISC and Schedule C.
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

2013 Return

Overall great. What troubles I had were resolved by calling the help line. The wait was about 20 minutes but the person took a lot of time and got me where I needed to be.
What's great about it: So easy as TurboTax takes info from previous years abd both fills in forms where possible but also provides comparisons.
What's not so great: Could not find 1099-S form to enter info.
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

Worthwhile

I have used Turbo Tax for 10 years and have really liked the product. I would have had to use professional help to do my taxes were it not for Turbo Tax. Easy to use and covers all my tax requirements. I like being able to file electronically with TT. That way I don't have to submit a 20 page form to the IRS. Filing electronically has been trouble free and very convenient.
What's great about it: Easy to use. I've been using Turbotax for the last 10 years and have been totally satisfied.
What's not so great: Seems to be a lot of updates to download.

For California, it is vital to have the State download before the end of the year to properly pre-pay the state tax as it is a deduction for Federal taxes. You did it this year, but I want to emphasize this is critical.
What's great about it: User Friendly
What's not so great: Nothing of consequence

Easy Peasy

TurboTax takes the anxiety out of doing your own taxes. It was easy and simple to use. I even had a CPA friend review my return and he said it was perfectly done. There were a few terms that I didn't understand but I was able to navigate the answers for most items without outside help. The best feature is that it can import W2 information and information from previous years. I also feel relief now that i purchased the optional audit defense, just in case. I will always use TurboTax for my tax needs.
What's great about it: Easy to use and navigate
What's not so great: A few tax terms I didnt understand
