Bank account information should be asked for much sooner than you do. I manually entered this info since it appeared you forgot to ask for it.
You should not require the first state tax form prepared to be efiled. Your customers should be allowed to choose which state return they file electronically for free. Others may be filed on paper.
I paid for the Deluxe version that always contained the State as well. This year I had to pay extra for the state then saw a paper ad for a version of the Deluxe that contains both Fed & State.
Why 2 versions of the Deluxe software?????
What's great about it: easy to understand the questions
What's not so great: Difficult to print state return
My experience was great except with Turbo Tax's handling of the NJ FLI tax. We had 3 separate W-2s, and each employer put this tax in a different location. When we put the information in as it is presented in the W-2s, Turbo Tax couldn't understand it. I spoke with my payroll HR person, and he showed me that NJ accepts it in these forms. However, Turbo Tax will tell you this isn't true. We didn't realize there was an issue until I was hitting the "Transmit e-file button" at the VERY end, and it was rejected. When we tried to move the data to where Turbo Tax says it should be, our refund numbers changed. I ended up having to redo my taxes all over again. Bottom Line - always put the FLI in Box 14 for Turbo Tax!
What's great about it: Very accurate and detailed explainations
This is probably the 15th year I've used Turbo Tax. I like doing my own taxes as this helps me know what kinds of things I can do year long to help my tax status. It's very easy, and even after all these years, I still do the step by step method so I don't miss anything. It takes longer for me to gather my papers and add up my small business (I'm self-employed) expenses, than to pop them in the slots and get it finished.
What's great about it: Already had last years info so no need to retype the basics
What's not so great: Need better way of going directly to a page to make changes without doing step by step again.
Overall using Turbo Tax was a positive experience. I still was disappointed at the scare tactic sales pitch at the end of my return. (Especially when it did not apply to me in Florida!)
What's great about it: I liked all the prompts especially if I was not sure if I qualified for a deduction.
What's not so great: I sometimes still found it confusing to navigate and did not like the update that I was never notified of.
