More informative than a professional

Going to a professional did not give me the insight to the threshold required to benefit from certain deductions. I was recording items that did not have an impact. Turbo tax helped me focus on deductions that are likely to affect me.

I always use Turbo Tax, inexpensive and I know my numbers are correct because I input my own data.

Not as pleased as previous years

Wouldn't transmit the e file and kept saying to check updates. I did repeatedly, none were needed. Couldn't find a phone number to call easily for help. Finally in total desperation, found a similar comment from a turbotax pro. did what she said and it went thru, but was not pleased. having been the victim of tax fraud just two years ago this was very unsettling. Need to fix it. Saw lots of similar complaints.
What's great about it: walks you thru everything step by step
What's not so great: wouldn't transmit, kept saying to check updates, none were needed.

Happy with results

Help line was effective and easy to use. I have no complaints with this product and will continue to use it in the future.
What's great about it: Very easy to use with questions asked in easy-to-understand manner.
What's not so great: I had to call for help when the software wouldn't take my input.

Easy to use software

I'm an accountant (but not a tax accountant by trade) so I understand tax concepts, but I have to say that TurboTax is very good software if you are not an accountant, as it guides you through the process of entering info. If you have a complicated situation, you may want to let a pro handle it, but if you have a relatively simple situation, and/or can use your prior year return as a guide, and take the time to go through the software interview, you should do fine with TurboTax - and, it'll also help you file electronically to get your refund faster.
What's great about it: Easy to use, esp if you're not an accountant
What's not so great: May need help if you have a complicated situation
Pros: I bought or sold investments

What's great about it: Pretty comprehensive, covered everything
What's not so great: Hard to erase data (ie- mistakenly entered info for a rental property) once in the system
