Mostly uncomplicated Refund!!

Overall pretty easy to use except when it came to filing. I tried several times to e-file. It wouldn't except it saying there was an update I needed yet every time I tried to update it stated there wasn't one. I finally had to close everything out and reboot the computer. That seemed to fix it. Kind of a pain.

Painless Process

Tax time is never fun, but with Turbo Tax it can be painless. Even when we have new tax situations from one year to the next, Turbo Tax steps me through each area so that I don't need to worry about leaving something out. If I have questions, the help topics are very good at getting me the answers I need. I have used turbo tax for years now, and I would highly recommend it.

TurboTax is a good standard for tax preparation by the do it yourself tax filer. In expensive compared to a pro's service and can be used to spread out the effort for convenience

Great for Federal; Not Good for State Returns

I've used Turbotax since the early 1990s and it's gotten better every year. In the past, there have been problems with IRA conversions that were taken care of in the 2013 version (thanks!). All the problems I ran into involved the NJ return. I had to do many of my own calculations and there was no help provided by TurboTax. Even the user forum wasn't helpful - others were complaining of exactly the same issues which in my case involved use of the general rule in determining taxes on pensions. It took multiple readings of NJ tax code, plowing through federal actuarial tables, and even then, I'm not sure I got it right. Please, please fix this!!!!!! It drove me crazy! Also, on the state form, the only real way of moving forward is to go to the form itself. Given that TurboTax claims it reviews state forms, I'm not sure how you could if you don't have any way of assessing if they were done correctly (no step by step on several items).

Almost perfect

The process of preparing taxes is much easier with Turbo Tax, especially since it shows me what I did last year so I can be sure I am not missing any category. It would be perfect for me except for a bug that prevented transmission without an update that did not exist. However, one quick look at the online answer forum and I got instructions that got my return transmitted in just a few minutes by restarting Turbo Tax.
