I am a senior and have depended on this product to aid me in the increasingly complicated task of filing income tax returns for at least 10 years. I have recommended this product to friends and family and will continue to do so. The boxes at the bottom of the page for continuing or going back were difficult to identify with these old eyes. That would be the only change I would recommend, just a little contrast for the older generation. Thank you for an excellent product and , God willing, I will be around to use it next year.
What's great about it: Still excellent in assisting tax prep and checking accuracy
What's not so great: The boxes at the bottom of the page need contrast
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)
This is the third time I have used Turbo Tax and it is always very easy. In the past couple of years I have moved twice to different states, sold a house, and changed jobs. Turbo Tax covered all of these with ease. Takes a lot of stress off of the whole tax filing nightmare!
What's great about it: Ease of use
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I moved
The Maine return insisted that I have a landlord and requested his/her first name. As we own our home, this was an error. Hope you fix it, soon. Also, I had a problem filing the return electronically. However, I came back the next day, and filed the return successfully.
What's great about it: The Federal return was great!
What's not so great: The Maine State return had several glitches in it.
Tried to load CD program on my iMAC but couldn't. Required chatting with TT support and finally just downloading directly. Thought I was done and ready to file when I first printed return and found out that California wasn't ready - "Do not file - Form not final". Well OK, but you should have told me that first long before that step - and before I paid the state filing fee. OK, came back the next week - reprinted everything - yesterday tried to file it but got additional errors - need to update program - did that - then error validation failed - mail in forms (??). Finally after exiting program and relaunching it appears to have gone through today.
I have been purchasing TT for many years. But next year I will evaluate other alternatives. :(
I tried to do taxes this year this both TurboTax and H&R Block tax software. I started with TurboTax, and was able to go from start to finish in a couple of hours. Then I tried H&R Block. It took 30 minutes just to try to upload my documents, using their smartphone app--which never did work, and locked me out of their system for 20 minutes. Then, it became to bothersome to try to load in information that I gave up. It took almost as long for me to get discouraged using H & R Block software as it did to complete my entire return with TurboTax.
What's great about it: Ease of use; step-by-step method
What's not so great: A little difficult to navigate at times
