I have been using Turbo Tax for ten years or more, and the process has taught me what to keep in terms of records throughout the year. Keeping the right items makes the process very simple. I have never been audited, and I firmly believe that it is because I use Turbo Tax software.
I feel confident when using Turbo Tax to do my taxes however, I didn't think that this year's edition was quite as clear as last year's (still very good however). For instance, if I saved last year's taxes on my computer (which I did) the software should be able to access all of that information and enter the information sought by this year's edition (had to find and enter previous year's education credits).
My suggestions would be to make the software as dummy proof as possible by bringing back small screen shots (clickable boxes if so desired by user) of boxes being asked for in the program and heads up reminders for upcoming sections and deductions (ex. where is this part, did I miss it?) Also, as mentioned, full access to previous year(s) returns.
I have been using Turbo tax for at least a decade now and even though I could probably get a lower cost e-file method, I keep coming back because in my confidence in the product.
