Overall, great to use. The MN property tax refund section has a bug; it will not allow you to uncheck preparing it if you don't have the information at this time. I had to jury rig it to stop by indicating in a subsequent page that we don't own the place or some such provision. It took a few days to decide how I was going to jury rig it. Otherwise, it worked well.
What's great about it: Worked well and easy 95% of the time
When I divorced a few years ago, I looked around at services to do my taxes. My husband always did them so I was under the impression that they were too 'difficult' for me to undertake. He would labor for days over them and I thought it would be daunting to do them myself. However every service I talked to gave me different 'fees' for this and that. A friend told me about TurboTax and how easy it was for her. I tried it and WOW! I feel very empowered and I think I found deductions that we could have taken in years past when I was married that my 'then husband' didn't even know about! TurboTax really does take a lot of 'guess work' out of taxes. It clarifies why these deductions are valid or invalid, etc... When I needed help with a software update after I purchased a new laptop, there was someone to guide me through in easy steps. My teenage sons have helped me do my taxes and they will be future TurboTax customers I'm sure. In fact, I'll probably gift them each with the software when they are ready to embark on that road.
What's great about it: Easy, step-by-step explanations. My 12 yr old can do it!
I itemize, have some pretty extravagant medical deductions, and I cherish simplicity and ease in things that are generally unpleasant, but necessary. This year, Turbo Tax ran me through every contingency with ease and I was done in a flash. Thanx!
What's great about it: Simplicity and thoroughness
TurboTax continues to provide reliable tax computations and easy to use program. The lack of abililty to import data from Quicken is incomprehensible and makes tax preparation a little more difficult than is necessary. DO NOT ADVERTISE THIS SERVICE IF IT DOES NOT EXIST.
What's great about it: None - similar to previous editions
What's not so great: Unable to import date from Quicken 2012 into TurboTax
