I have used TurboTax for as long as I can remember. It is easy and fast. I don't have to haul all of my paper work to a professional's office. I can start and stop if I need too, as well. There is no need to stress.
First installed looked fine and initial entries saved. When looking for the TT icon, it was gone, checked the folder where the app was installed it was empty and a failure notice came up indicating that a dll file was missing. Second install worked fine. I think. Other apps failed to load. Registry problems. Now I have to fix that. Used TurboTax for 20 years + and never had this problem
What's great about it: Second time install worked fine
What's not so great: First Installed was saved and when looking for the icon it was gone
I have used TT for about 5 years. Never had a problem. This year, the E-file function took 2 days before it worked. Kept getting messages that I needed to update, but TT said there were no updates. Very perplexing!!After trouble shooting with other people in the "Community" who were having the same issue... The E-file went through. I guess I will wait to make sure that the IRS receives it before I get too happy. Still in all, I will use TT again next year.
What's great about it: very affective questions
What's not so great: e-file had some kinks
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)
When I did have a question I searched the help reference answers for an hour or so and also looked for a phone number to call for help but ended up not finding one even though I know it's there as I had to call last year about something. I may still need to find the number as I still have to help my kids with their returns. Hopefully I'll find it this time.
What's great about it: Turbo Tax is pretty easy and does ALOT of the work for me.
What's not so great: Finding the number to call at Turbo Tax
Turbo Tax remains very easy-to-use and has even improved the steps to e-file the Federal (free) and mail the State return (free). I really like how you can just navigate on your own in areas of Income or deductions when you know you have no special circumstances. It is best to use the tool prompts if you are unsure of the topics, but after multiple years with the same situations, it is faster to jump to the topics review page. It is great that you can follow either path!
What's great about it: organization of material and ability to jump to certain topics if desired
