I enjoyed doing this years taxes, Turbo Tax using last years info helped out greatly. Also it made it easy to do resident and non resident on the same tax form for state taxes. This is a newer feature that is much appreciated and time saving.
What's great about it: Transferred last years info, Easy for Military situations.
I could not be happier right now! I am done filing my taxes and I am calm. It was so easy with Turbo Tax. They walk you right through it and if you have questions or don't understand there is always someone to help you out. I knew my refund would be better this year because I bought a house but WOW it was awesome! I also purchased the audit protection so now I don't have to worry about that either.
What's great about it: I like how they guide you right through the whole process and have explanations right on the page you are preparing.
Two big compalints that cost me MUCH wasted time - 1. I refinanced my home this year and was therefore eligible to deduct unclaimed points from previous loan. However, when I completed the mortgage interest section for that loan, it indicated only 1/30 of the points amount. It was only after I changed the 'interest paid' amount that I discovered that the unclaimed points had, in fact, been deducted - CONTRARY to the "Congratulations, you get to deduct $102" message. 2. On the education deduction section, the 2013 return carried over my school information from last year's return. I clicked 'continue' rather than 'edit' because the information shown was CORRECT. However, it WOULD NOT allow me to enter my education expense because it said I was not eligible. I had to dig deep into the help resources to find I was not the only one that encountered this scenario. Contrary to other places in the software, one MUST click 'edit' to enter details. VERY frustrating!
What's great about it: comprehensive
What's not so great: hard to get back to prior areas
