Turbo Tax Review

Too early to really rate turbo tax this year. Last year I found mistakes in the beginning (I do all my families) and I emailed you or called (cant remember) and they were fixed within 2 days.
I never liked to file my taxes, but with TurboTax all I had to do was read and click. I saved much money by not having to go to a tax man. I have become my own "man ."
What's great about it: Easy to follow instructions
Mac owner 1. After most of the form in completed, when the program brings the file forms on screen, the $ numbers show only the first half of the first number on the left of that number. It did the same last year as I remember. Tried printing out the forms and they printed correctly - same as last year. 2. Had trouble e-filing the first time (Friday 1/31/14) and it went through the next day (2/1/14). 3. Had difficulty saving: a. kept bringing up the requirement for a password, but wouldn't immediately go into the passworded file that I had been working on (after I did the 1st password request.) b. So, went to appllications and clicked on the file that I wanter, and it requested that I do a password choice. It didn't let me: click on the file, fill in a password. It kept making me use a new password. So I wrote in the original password and the program then that there all ready was afile with that name and did I want to overwrite it. I did but shouldn't I be able to work on a file, save, and continue working on that file? c. Today, 2/1/14, after being told yesterday that the e-file wouldn't work and that I may have to mail the forms to the IRS/State, I went to my TurboTax file, it asked for a password on the file that I saved yesterday without a "password". Weird. 4. Good ideas about Password protection on the file, just need a little tweak. 5. Did have a question about required % payments from retirement accounts. I have a PERS (Oregon) monthly payment which is not a "required payment - over 70 1/2, but there wasn't a choice for this. So I left the blanks, blank.
Anyway, I've finally sent off the forms e-filing and it went through!!!!!
What's great about it: Mostly great help going through the forms, Loved the pricing on donations.
not everything was out in the open, box stated easy for1st time user, I have been doing this for years, not all was easy. state to print out did not go right, called was over an hour to get someone on the phone then get told not able to do until Feb 12, and that was with an attitude to boot. paid more for this to get state done with no more effort and that was a big mistake on my part. went with block in the past and should of waited till it was in stores with state, would of been cheaper to say the least. own quicken products over the years, time to look at what is out there besides them.
What's great about it: simple, e-file went easily
What's not so great: to print ouy state was not ready, nothing showed that till called in
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)
