I have bought Turbo-Tax for many years. Each and every year it can't find last years returns. So, once again, find myself entering my address, SS #'s, ect.
Hopefully this year will do better. Last year I had to write letters to the IRS explaining my tax return. I had rented some of my personal equipment, and being honest, claimed the income. I was able to claim the income within Turbo-Tax, but it got red-flagged by the IRS.
I have been using TurboTax since it first came on the market and I love it. It covers everything that's important to me and makes filing income taxes almost a pleasure. Keep up the good work and I'll continue to be a very satisfied customer.
I've been using TurboTax for some years now and I'll agree with all the good things that have been said about it. But, I do have two issues I'd like to put forth: 1-Each year I elect to have my Vanguard Group data imported, and there is a problem every time. Usually there is only a partial data transfer and I have to identify and fill in the missing info. This year there was no transfer at all, presumably because the information was not yet available. Well, I had already received the data printouts in the mail, so I knew the info was available. This is an area where I would like to see TurboTax improved. 2-During preparation of the state return there is a question: "What kind of retirement income do you have from Pennsylvania?", and you must select the "State type code" for each retirement source. Since I have several retirement sources from Vanguard, and each source has the same title, when I select the type code for the first source the next source then replaces the first. But, since the title for the next source is the same as the first, the screen appears not to change; it appears to be locked-up. After ten minutes of trial and error I realized that it was just going down the list of Vanguard retirement sources, and each one had the same name. I'd like to see a visual screen change after each type code entry, to alert the user that a new type code entry is required.
I used to pay someone an absurd amount of money to prepare my taxes. I have been using TurboTax the past 4 years and can't believe I wasted all the money on someone else to prepare my taxes. I have a pretty straight forward tax return, but with all the options in the program I think it would still be easy if I had other events going on in my life (marriage, investments, kids, etc.)
