So, here it is, nearly midnight of the due date after filing an extension. Soooo tedious doing taxes regular years, but this year was new and exciting. Lost a job. Cashed out a bunch of stock options. Sold other stocks with no cash basis reported. Found medical insurance. Refinanced the house. Sought a job. Got another job. Started consulting too. "Kid" went to college. Maybe novelty keeps us young, but I'm so grateful to have TurboTax walk me through the basics, and ramp up through the not-so-basics. My brain hurts, but taxes are done for another year. Yay! Now, on to raking leaves ...
What's great about it: Remembers basic info, Has great help links, Walks me through
What's not so great: Still a little buggy, FAQs could be consolidated in "Ask" results
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I bought or sold investments
Used 3 yrs, first 2 pretty easy, this year very challenging. Had to restart several times due to program glitches and ended up paying twice. Hope to get a refund. Not sure I will trust next year...
As stated above, I could not change the name of the organization even after reading the Help section several times. I spent a good deal of time entering all of the donated items and I did not want to do this again. Also it took me longer to figure out how to use the donation section than I think was necessary.
All in all, I do like this software and wouldn't think of changing to another one!
What's great about it: Once I organized all files, I just entered my totals. Very painless..
What's not so great: Entered the incorrect name on a donation. Couldn't change name!
5 out of 5 stars!! I tried to use another software last year and had a terrible experience. I brought Turbo and completed my taxes. I'll never do that again!
What's great about it: Very user friendly, navigating is simple, quick results
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)
My extension payment didn't show up on my 1040. This almost caused me to pay an additional $7500. Now I am wondering what else is incorrect. I trusted TurboTax for many years, now what?
