Geez! All prior years, Turbo downloaded all data from last years return (names, carryover credits etc). This year I had to enter ALL manually even though I restarted several times. Also, Date of purchase & cost basis of MOST trades from broker were missing or incorrect. In the correction phase of Turbo, while it would accept both a date AND an amount (which were missing), it would come back for a SECOND time and ask for data which was AREADY entered & visible..
I'VE BEEN USING THIS PRODUCT FOR 15 YEARS AND WILL CONTINUE TO UTILIZE IT AND RECOMMEND IT TO OTHER. ALSO, MY ADULT CHILDREN BEGAN USING TURBO TAX THIS YEAR AND THEY ALSO SWEAR BY IT!!
I have been a repeat customer for over a decade and I'm very satisfied with TurboTax.
This was the first time I had trouble installing from CD and it only took a few minutes for Support to diagnose and supply a download of a replacement file of TurboTax which worked AOK.
I've always been confused with the way TurboTax Deluxe does my Business entries/calculations.
We have used Turbo Tax for about 10 years and have always been extremely pleased with the "interview" style for completing forms. The fact that we can download info from our financial institutions is a huge bonus. Unfortunately, we ran into two issues this year: one federal, one state. This was the first year that I received distributions from my IRA and a portion of this was from non-deductible (after-tax) contributions. TurboTax left me high and dry with no questions or format. I was able find the form I needed 8606 and once I filled out the appropriate worksheet, TurboTax did the rest. But I do recommend that as BabyBoomers start getting distributions from their IRAs that Turbo Tax incorporate an easy step to walk you through the Federal Form 8606. Also, regarding the state step-by-step interview: It is REALLY ANNOYING to have to repeat and repeat and repeat questions when you have to go back to check just one item. I tried going to the "topics" which brings you to the form you're working on, but you have to repeat answers to so many questions while you're doing the step-by-step interview. The federal section is set up so that you can review and update each item (and the items appear on a summary page). We could not find any such summary in the state section. It would be so much easier to view a summary of items that you have entered for the state (or which were transferred over from the federal section), so that you could choose just one item to review or update (rather than having to answer the same 10 questions repeatedly). We really like TurboTax and noticed that you have made changes over the years. We hope you will listen to the problems we had this year and make appropriate adjustments.
