The TurboTax interview questions help me use all the deductions to which I am entitled. This is a huge benefit for me. I also appreciate the automatic transfer of data to both of my state returns and the import of data from my previous year return.
What's great about it: Great interview questions. Help me get all my deductions in.
I have always liked the user friendly interface that Turbo Tax has. Plus there are only small incremental changes and improvements every year. This is great compared to the current strategy of some big software vendors (aka Microsoft) that feel the need to make major changes to the user interface design every year. Keep up the good work Turbo Tax.
What's great about it: Good user interface. The step by step nature of Turbo Tax is great.
Great software that was easy to load and use. Unfortunately, could not use on Apple Mac due to error message when trying to load... I ended up loading onto a PC with no problems.
What's great about it: user friendly software
What's not so great: got error message when loading on Apple Mac
I've used TT for years and it improves each year. This year I had new situations and it led me through them with ease and also provided some detailed explanation of how to interpret terms like "non-qualified retirement plan" - like everyone knows that this is.
Daughter used online version with ease so I might try that next year.
What's great about it: continuity from previous years, leads through new situations, leave it to TT to figure out how to fill out the forms
What's not so great: Getting better at how to explain certain situations through help, but more examples would be helpful.
1. Somehow the program loaded New York on my return which it would not allow me to delete. My son had VA and NY on his return, however the program loaded NY on my return. 2. There was no quick link to ItsDeductible. I Searched for ItsDeductible in the search box and I was able to navigate to import from my 2013 charity entry. The help screen had no solution provided. The values it downloaded from ItsDeductible did not match the list of items when I tried to edit the item list in my return. Also the total donation value was off by several hundred dollars. In my return I was able to view the imported items, but the item values did not agree with the item values indicated in ItsDeductible. the HIGH and MEDIUM values differed therefore my totals were not in agreement. Also there were items missing when I imported the data. I went over this issue at least 7 times and ended up fudging item values in my return to approximate what ItsDeductible valued the items. In case I get audited I can show the item values in ItsDeductible and that the program did not import properly.
What's not so great: Remove state and Itsdeductible program issues
