The Better Way to Prepare Returns
on March 30, 2014

The program walked me through income and deduction calculations in a very logical, methodical manner. It may have taken a little longer than going to a tax preparer but it much less expensive and significantly more detailede.
What's great about it: The program found deductions that neither I nor our previous tax preparer knew/asked about.
We have used Turbo Tax for a many years now and find this product to only get better and more user friendly each year. Good for older aged groups and the multiple situations which may affect filing, as well as simple and easy for standard filing situations.
What's great about it: Easy data compliation of Royalty Information for state filings.
I have used TurboTax for over 10 years and each year it is improved for functionality and clarity. I will continue to use Turbo Tax for my tax preparation software. Thanks for developing an outstanding product.
What's great about it: software is very easy to use and well structured.
What's not so great: didn't seem to notice any negative aspects
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)
It could be easier to use. For example going back to look at things such as your state tax form when you are in the middle of filing it, doesn't have clear instructions for getting back to the e-file. However, even though it is not clear, it does not do anything that you weren't expecting. I think it keeps getting better each year.
What's great about it: Easy to use and makes doing taxes as fun as possible!
What's not so great: Still not as user friendly as I would like.
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I bought or sold investments
this is really idiot proof. Turbo tax lays out the various sections you have to enter in. I spend about 5 minutes ordering my income documentation and deduction documentation in accordance with the order the system will need it. the whole experience only took about an hour to do the federal and state entries.
The link to its deductible continues to be great--the longest time spent was entering all of the information from the various non-tax donations (that was about 10 minutes of my time) but, it would have to be entered manually. the pre-identified values makes it very easy to use
What's great about it: if you use for multiple years, only adjustments required are updating numbers or new situations
Thanks for being here over these many years! I appreciate the program - ALTHOUGH you do need to know that Windows 8 and Turbo tax do not get along...I assume it is Microsoft attempting to force you to sell to them - or they are supporting another product.... Hence - that's my thoughts.... Double hence - I will be purchasing Turbo Tax 2014 next year...Thanks!
What's great about it: Completing the math in a very involved - Government taxation program
What's not so great: I am getting older :) Not your problem - but it's happening...
I have used TT for the last ten years without a problem. Prior to then I was Regional Tech Support for Jackson Hewitt and H&R Block and was required to use their products. I was very busy. This was first time I had to return a TT product. I hope it was a fluke and not a trend.
What's great about it: Easy to follow instructions as usual
What's not so great: Had to return to Targets twice to get new TT programs; the first two failed to load
