I took the standard deduction on my federal tax return. I itemized on my AZ return. When I printed my AZ state return for filing, it did not include federal schedule A for AZ filing. AZ requires Federal Schedule A to be included with form 104 when itemizing on the AZ tax return. I had to go back and change my TurboTax federal return to itemize instead of the standard deduction in order to get a schedule A to print.
What's great about it: Filling out info was easy. Nice to have data transferred from last year.
What's not so great: Did not include federal schedule A for AZ filing. State e-filing expensive.
The quality of the interface is a cut above H&R Block.
I had some special situations, which it did not handle very well. The worst one...A state tax refund was not handled correctly no matter how many times I went through the (poorly worded) interview. I had to read some IRS documents and manually override Turbo Tax's entry, otherwise I would have overpaid.
In a couple of other cases (semi-unusual situations) it did not cover the relevant tax-saving choices in the interview. I had to go off and do my own research.
What's great about it: Excellent Interface, Accurately Worded Interview
What's not so great: Gave Me Wrong Answer on Treatment of State Refund
