As a US citizen living permanently abroad, I find that TurboTax makes navigating through the complicated forms easier. Not all forms, such as the 3520 and 3520a are included, though.
I file as married, filing separately because my spouse is not a US citizen. There is no option for "foreign" or some such designation as the new FBAR now uses in place of a SSN. The review always gives me an error, but there is no option to even write an explanation or even N/A.
Also, since there are so many Americans living abroad and required to file US taxes, it would be much easier if you accepted credit cards with foreign addresses so the file could be downloaded.
On the whole, it's much easier than filling in PDF forms and saves a lot of time.
What's great about it: Steps through easily, contains most forms
What's not so great: Would be nice if all forms were included
Would not efile. It took 5 tries even though I had already loaded the updates. The RMD in the income section was difficult to follow. Pensions are not RMD. I will not use Turbo Tax again
