not user friendly

I am unable to print the state return. I E-filed the federal but want to mail the state but it will not print the state. I had trouble earlier in deleting a energy credit that was erroneouly enter on the federal. "After much effort I was fiallly able to correct the error. I am about fed up with your system after using it for ten years I am seriously considering another program.

Makes an inscrutable task understandable

A solid, helpful product for the majority of people to file their taxes. Covers all typical situations, including some basic investment (short-term and long-term) income calculations and attendant taxes. Definitely encourages entry of all details, the precision of which minimizes your additional tax or maximizes your return.
What's great about it: Easy-Step walk-through, ability to review forms directly, too.
What's not so great: Glitch in copy from prior year data made submission to MA problematic

My return was very easy.

It was very easy for someone with no experience like me. I was not afraid because it was Turbo Tax. I will get it again next year. Some work has to be done by me, the work you need if you ask an accountant to do your taxes, but this is done while you answer their questions. You feel that you always have help!
What's great about it: Questions made it easy to complete forms.
What's not so great: Nothing I did not like.

Couldn't e file after 40 frustrating minutes

Despite multiple successful updates i was unable to efile. Turbo tax recommended that i mail the return.....but the program doesn't print only the forms required for mailed return. So I am left sorting through 50 pages to make that determination.

3rd year using TT and it's still great!

I've used all the versions of Turbo Tax over the past three years while operating and selling rental real estate. I love it! I trust it to be up to date on the latest deductions and credits. I previously had a CPA I was using for decades who had fallen out of touch with the updated tax codes.
My only critique is for the errors/corrections section I find it hard to know exactly what section of the process to go back to to make edits. Sometimes just looking at the tax forms isn't enough and I need to go back to the step-by-step section to walk through it again and make sure I did it right.
Overall, this program is excellent for someone who has little to no tax knowledge, just be patient and ready to read and learn. After 3 years I have gone from completely clueless to fairly competent.
What's great about it: Easy, detailed, step-by-step explainations
What's not so great: Can be a bit confusing to change previously entered items

TuroTax Deluxe Updates

I had problems e filling due to TuroTax needing to update and the community help took me so many places before I found out all I need to do was go to my computer for updating and them restarting my computer.

Finally Done

This is the way to go! It does take using it for a couple of years to learn the little quirks (e.g exactly where to enter odd data) but then it is pretty smooth sailing. Although retired, my return is quite complicated but I go through it fine. I've been using Turbotax for 8 or 10 years now.
What's great about it: Complete, easy to follow, good directions

I've used TT for years and feel that it's reliable in its updates of the tax codes and it walks you through all the areas that are relevant to your tax return.
What's great about it: Once you used TT it stores information and it makes the next year easier
