OK on Federal but Problems with State

No problems with the Fed return -it went smoothly as in the past. State return did not initially have the pension deduction information right. It was fixed later in an late update.
What's great about it: Good guidance in step by step
What's not so great: State tax software was missing big deducation
Having the tax references and built-in tools at my computer's fingertips is outstanding. Further, I've been using TurboTax software since it was first offered on the market, and over the decades the programming continues to steadily improve along with a significant price reduction, which is much appreciated.
The only cons noted were two items: one is a reduction in the ability to control the software so I could direct it to where I wanted to go, when I wanted to go back to a specific section. The program would only allow me to go back to the beginning of that section, instead of to the specific area of the section. The second con is the interface between the TurboTax program and a printer, i.e., I used four different printers: two HP's, one Canon, and one Epson. For some reason the program would not send a clear print command for one page, Page 6, in my federal return. Although everything else printed just fine, including the records version for the file. To respond to the IT's first question, I also hard rebooted the computer and cleared the memory on the LAN and printers, with the same results
What's great about it: References & tools at fingertips
What's not so great: Minor cons: Printer interface, & convincing the software to go where desired
I had a 1099 MISC that was retirement income from being a volunteer fire figher. The available selections did not address this type f incom and at one point indicated I had a business 'Volunteer Firefighter, Retirement". Just is not so.
What's great about it: easy to a point
What's not so great: 1099 Misc challange 2hrs trying to resolve
I have used Turbo tax for years now and will continue to do so. It is very easy and walks you through every detail to make sure you haven't missed anything
What's great about it: was easy to get through taxes
TurboTax is the best of the lot among tax programs. My only objection this year is that it did not import names, SSNs, names of charities donated to, and other repetitive information from the previous year.
What's great about it: Well organized, thorough, directions usually clear
What's not so great: Did not import info from TurboTax 2012 this year. Every year before the current program imported repetitive informati
This year it was not as smooth as years before. Particularly in the stock & Bonds area (Sch. D?) But otherwise it was straight forward. Keep on improving.
What's great about it: The question method is the best way
I hate doing taxes, and get real cranky when I can't put it off any longer. For me, the hard part is getting the required data, badgering my kids for 1098-T, and organizing the papers in categories. Once I have done that, the data entry goes smoothly and only takes a few hours to complete.
I will get a much bigger refund than expected, so I'll adjust my withholding for next year accordingly.
The program worked as expected on my Mac, except for: 1. Had to do a workaround for the 1099-PATR my wife gets for patronage refunds from her buying club 2. Couldn't figure out how to enter the IP PIN that TurboTax recommended i use. The data entry field only accepts five digits, and the IP PIN is six.
What's great about it: data entry only took a few hours
What's not so great: couldn't use IP PIN
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I bought or sold investments
