I've used TurboTax for several years now, and I'm really pleased. The step-by-step guidance is really great, as well as having the state and federal done together.
What's great about it: Quick, easy and very helpful
Therefore, (they) should expand the Tax Reporting options from the current 3 (Doctors, dentists, hhospitals, etc; Medicine; and, Medical mileage) by adding the items "requested" when working in the Medical Deduction area of TurboTax. Of course, it would help everybody if the billing statements would be formatted to assist in presenting the "reporting" items clearly.
What's great about it: TurboTax gets easier to use except for Medical Deductions
What's not so great: Quicken's Category "Tax Reporting" options are very lacking
I started using Turbo Tax some years ago and love it more each year. It asks all the questions in a way that I can understand them. Also love the downloads from financial institutions for the 1099-DIV, something that always left me a little nervous when I entered the information myself from the print form. Entering charitable contributions is so easy it is almost fun. And I love seeing the refund recalculate with each entry.
What's great about it: Asks all the right questions. Downloads information from financial institutions. Makes data entry fast and easy.
I've used TurboTax for at least fifteen years and it's the premier tax preparation application for individuals or small businesses who self-prepare their taxes.
What's great about it: Ease of Use
What's not so great: Some calculations are difficult to uncover.
